I've actually had pretty good luck with the AA mall and purchases posting (I've only ordered through them 4 or 5X but all of these have posted properly).

I don't know if this makes a difference but I usually go to the site of the store I want to shop at and find exactly what I want to order, note the item # or exact name if no number is available, then I close that window and open the e-mall, click through the link, and then enter the item # and proceed immediately to checkout.

Like I said I don't know if this makes a difference but I've had good luck employing this method so far and I figure the fewer number of clicks and new pages loaded the smaller the chance that the trackback to the e-mall gets lost somehow.

Generally, I notice miles are posting to my shopping account faster than they were earlier in the year.

@ingridhughes what you are describing sounds like a miles deduction for returns. Btw, a belated welcome to FlyerTalk!
Thank you for the welcome. I am returning member using a new handle as I was fairly active around here years ago. Over the last few years, my frequent flying came to a halt yet still continued to accumulate miles hence my reasoning for posting on this thread. There is so much for me to catch up on since I have decided to start using miles to fly.

I have miles "pending" from Yahoo search but they haven't posted to AA yet. There are less than I was expecting, I know I did 100 miles during June, I should have about 70 from May, 100 from June and 5 from July (I gave up so did a token amount). I got the toolbar 500 bonus but not the searches as of yet.

I seem to be getting mixed luck. I've had the majority of my purchases post eventually (after 1-2mo). However recently I've had about a half a dozen purchases using the portal and only one of them posted after just 2 days. I'm glad that it posted so quickly, yet at the same time I worry about the other purchases I made. Does AA do a sweep and post purchase miles periodically? Or do they post as they are confirmed by the merchant?

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but in case you are unaware, there are many threads on this topic in the AA forum with an abundance of anecdotal posts. (I'm actually surprised this thread hasn't been moved there).

But to the issue posted, since Vesdia took over this portal it's really gone down hill, in most ppl's opinion.

Since I notice that the OP is new and it seems that many of you who have posted here are as well, I'll give you the result page for "eshopping" on the AA forum so you can benefit from all its info:

I have had the same problem with AA Aadvantage Eshopping. Sometimes my purchases post rapidly and some don't at all. It takes forever to get it cleared up. I will not buy from there again until everything is corrected.

I'm another person who's made the switch to AA from DL and although the program seems great I've been extraordinarily disappointed with the shopping experience as compared to DL and NWA. It took nearly 3 months to receive points for the toolbar, I'm still waiting for points from shopping that was done months ago (they've been showing as pending since early July), and I didn't get any points from registering my CC even though I was told I would. As an infrequent flier who is not in the place to be churning cards, I rely on the little things to get miles and AA certainly doesn't make that easy.

Uh, no, sorry. I was trying to be helpful, not cheeky. I don't know why the link doesn't work.

So you'll have do your own search, but it's really simple:

Go to the AA forum

Do a search with "eshopping" in the subject line

Read the threads and benefit from thousands of posts on the subject.

Here are a few threads from that search result:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...g-toolbar.html

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...solidated.html

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...epic-fail.html

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...eshopping.html

(It was my understanding that Milesbuzz should be used to alert us all to deals that we may not be aware of, such as the AA Eshop toolbar 500 mile offer. But if we wanted to find out details of why AA miles aren't posting, etc, then we should go to the source, the AA Forum. Maybe I'm wrong about all this. I was just trying to be helpful).

Good digging around.

AA Eshopping has been about 90% effective for me in the past in posting miles. Email contact to their support was useless.

Which seems to be the general consensus after reading threads...

I sure hope you're right. I'm still missing miles from a purchase made in mid-November 2009 using the AAdvantage Eshopping site.

I've contacted Vesdia numerous times, and AAdvantage Customer Service, and am still waiting for the issue to be resolved.
