Great, thanks!

Yep, exactly.. Credit Boards Database is what you should use to see which agencys get pulled. However, things vary depending on what state you live in, so keep that in mind.

I know this varies greatly by state. Friend on east coast got an equifax inquiry while i got an experian pull. For me chase ba, citimc bus aa and citi amex, and spg amex all got experian pulls. Based in vegas.

After reading various credit forums/articles, i think i will limit myself to 6 or less apps per 6 months, and 3 or less apps per 90 days. I'll try not to cross that line to keep my credit score looking good

I just want to thank you for talking about credit Karma. I hadn't been aware of it, and I'm glad to learn about it. Also happy to know I have a score of 775.^

I'm also getting hit as my average age of open lines decreases.

If you apply over and over again for credit cards (even after you start getting rejected) I wonder how much damage you can do to your credit. Can you lower it all the way to the 500s? Or does it cut you off at some point?

i have looked at the credit pulls and it seems like both chase and amex pull experian in CA. i know frugal travel guy says 2 per bureau every 90 days but this is very difficult given amex and chase hold all of the cards with good bonuses. the only other is citi aa which appears to use equifax in ca. i have no idea which company uses TransUnion. TransUnion is the score on creditkarma. I be my experian score is way lower than that TransUnion score I get. do any of you guys use any of these credit score monitoring sites, which ones are good?

I'm pretty sure you are correct on 2 bureau pulls.

i did a little research on experian today and found out that they do not offer their fico scores any longer to consumers. you can buy a score on their site, but it is not the same one they sell to banks and lenders, so its useless. since experian seems to pop up on all of my amex and chase cards this is highly annoying. i dont like being totally in the dark on something as important as my credit. i know my TransUnion score is 775, but I have no clue what my experian score is. Could it be say 100 points less due to 5 inquiries in the past 3 months? i guess really u do have to apply for cards until you get a denial and then request a copy of your credit report, but I dont know if they just give u the report, the score may not be included. frustrating.

The list

So it is established that CreditKarma gives you your TransUnion credit score(fro free). I recently received an AMEX denial e-letter naming all sort of reasons with an "Experian" attached next to it.
  1. Transunion => CreditKarma(free)

  2. Equifax => ???

  3. Experian => ???

Can anybody help complete this list so we all could get a full picture and be completely informed in our future application?
Is there any that gives you all 3 in one shot?

My SO and I live in southern California (scores ~770) and applied for 3 cards each in July (SPG personal/biz + Citi AA for me and Chase Onepass for her). All pulls were on Experian and all were approved except the SPG biz for me and Chase for her.

The reasons for denial were 1) inquiries (no surprise) 2) payment size relative to balance. This is a little puzzling since we always have paid balances in full every month, but I'm guessing it is because we split some of the payments between us. Guess this is a bad idea and we will stop it, but I suspect the denials were mostly rooted in inquiries anyway.

A side complaint/warning: I called Amex after the SPG business denial and the rep agreed that none of the reasons for denial (except for the inquiries) made much sense, and said my app could be reviewed by someone if I liked. I specifically asked if it would cause another inquiry and she assured me it would not. I should have known better than to believe a phone rep, but I told her to go ahead...

Of course, I saw an inquiry 3 days later from them and was still denied. Now I'm soaked with inquiries and have no choice but to sit out a while...

did the experian report include your score or just the credit report?

you can get the equifax fico score from myfico. check out creditboards and they always have discount codes for myfico. consumers are not able to obtain experian scores any longer.

No it was just an AMEX denial e-letter. No scores or nothing like that. Only the reason why I was denied and an (Experian) written next to the reason. It was not a report.

Thank you for the the tip on the myfico and creditboards. I also have applied for Chase CO CC and if Experian turns out to be the way to go for both AMEX and Chase well looks like it's gonna be a sad day for Mr.Flyaah.....
