Thank you for the the tip on the myfico and creditboards. I also have applied for Chase CO CC and if Experian turns out to be the way to go for both AMEX and Chase well looks like it's gonna be a sad day for Mr.Flyaah.....
any time u get denied you can ask the bank for a copy of the credit report. ask amex for a copy of your experian report and ask them to include your score in the report as well.

How many applications per 6 months?

In honor of Pirates of the Caribbean filming out my window, my answer to this question is... at least once more miss Swan, as always.

  1. Transunion => CreditKarma(free)

  2. Equifax => ???

  3. Experian => ???

Can anybody help complete this list so we all could get a full picture and be completely informed in our future application?
Is there any that gives you all 3 in one shot?

So I've asked AMEX and they redirected me to Experian(phone and website). I told them I wanted them to tell me the score but their reply was that they have based their answer on what Experian was providing to them so Experian will give me the score, mmh.

I did received my "free viewing online after denial for 30-day" report from Experian but just not the score. Called them and boy they did everything they could to avoid me talking to a real Human rep. For the first time ever I have pressed the "0" key on my phone after hearing all that machine talk and confirmation could have possibly told me and it then proceeded to show me the exit!

Ditto for Equifax, gave me a confirmation number to receive the credit score at my home address and showed me the exit and again same thing about the online for 30-day thing I am able to see the report(not the score) online as well.

Finally Transunion, I don't seem to be able to get my way around their website and well I didn't call them since I now have them on lock with score on creditkarma.com

That was my experience.

Nice tip koctail once again!

Nice. I have the Chase CO account! How do you do that? By calling the number on the back of the card and enroll?

When you are denied, the Credit Bureau that is listed on the rejection is required to give you a copy of the credit information - BUT NOT a credit score.

From my experience its always easier just to pay and get your full credit/fico scores than to call in and try to hammer it out that way with the agencies.

One day it just asked me if I wanted to see it. Now it is a banner on the top of my accounts when I login. Now that I think about it I am not sure if it is the bank accounts or having credit cards with them that does this though. Maybe someone else can chime in as well....

Amex is just flukey in the way they handle credit limits. I have stellar credit and had a couple of Amexes closed on me out of the blue, due to "negative information" from Experian ..which I could never find. I think most of it has to do with extremely limiting their exposure during a recession and the rest is b.s. After arguing forever ..I just said the hell with it ..and put in a new application and was approved with crazy high credit limits (This was for the DL Reserve Card). Wth knows how they do this stuff.

Citi Monitor

I pay $10.95 monthly for Citi Monitor service - With all my Hotel and Airline Reward cards it's worth the fee for peace of mind with all the Identity theft around.

I can access all (3) credit reporting agencies and get my scores and all the details at any time.

All my scores have always been above 750 and I've never been turned down for credit reasons - but 1X for 'too many (Chase) cards'.

I now have (3) personal Chase cards and just applied for a 4th Chase card (Biz) so I'm anxious to see what will happen!

Waiting for the UA and CO merger & hoping for a 'merged' Chase card so I can cancel UA & CO cards and bring the total number of Chase cards to 3 only - then will apply for a Priority Club Chase card to make the maximum total of 4 Chase cards.

It was so much better before Chase (and Amex) owned the world!!!

Just be aware that this is not the "official" score used by most banks, i.e. the FICO. CreditKarma, and most of the check-it-yourself credit reports, use what are often called "FAKOs", i.e., their own proprietary system that might or might not be similar. Reports of people who have bought the FICO and checked the FAKO on the same day have had these numbers varying by as much as 100 points or more (though sometimes they're the same, there's no way to know).

Fair Isaac's FICO is proprietary, and they're not talking, so it's pretty hard to determine just what actions will affect their score, and it's also hard for these other companies to create a score that can mimic it, even somewhat.

Mostly, FAKOs are good for tracking trends, but don't count on that number if you're going for a loan or something.
