Very sad that Istanbul is not included in the promo.
However, thanks OP for sharing this. I hope SkyTeam and oneworld price matches these fares.

Any places that are good for some cake and coffee after getting to Europe?

I was able to change a $1963 P fare I had booked several days ago, improved the routing and got a $438 per ticket future flight credit back. Then booked a second trip because, well, $1513 TATL from SFO on LX and OS metal is just too good to pass up.

Which OTAs do you use to book? Normally I book directly through the carrier (e.g. United) but the fares seem to price out differently there. Is Expedia best, or safe to us any that are linked from Google Flights?

I just stumbled on this sale on my own today while looking for ways to get more PQP.
Is it worth it to spend ~1500 for ~4k PQP to hit gold premier with UA? I'm planning on a couple of domestic trips later this year that probably won't get me close enough.
Not sure if the Gold status is worth it over Silver given that I'm usually flying out of SFO and already have a cobranded card.

Gold gets you E+ at time of booking, and access to Star lounges internationally while traveling in Y (and general Star Gold recognition). So, Silver & Cobrand is much more overlapping than Gold & Cobrand would be.

If Gold versus Silver, you would earn 8 miles instead of 7 for this trip. Is that worth $1,500?
