Top tips for the "Dim Sum / Chicken adobo" fare:
  • At more than 5 weeks after most of us booked this fare it looks increasingly likely that the fare will stick. However prudence is still advisable and we should all avoid contacting the booking agent and if essential to contact try to deal with the airline direct.
  • Check that your original itenary is intact and ticketed as PAL revised their LHR flight schedule in early September and there appear to now only be 5 flights a week now rather than daily. Use TripCase to do this - see post #114 on how to do this (thanks to @MyFlights App). If you have incurred an involuntary change you can contact PAL and they will permit one change to amend your itenary. They appear to be flexible to shift flights to adjacent days, but if you try to push to be rerouted on another carrier to maintain the original itenary times you might find your flights are cancelled and you end up with a refund.
  • Online seat assignments are not possible on PAL when booked through a 3rd party, you have to call up, it is best to call PAL on 0808 164 9888 rather than the booking agent.
  • Whilst it looks like the fare is going to stick be aware that making other travel arrangements around this booking are at your own risk so consider making bookings that are refundable or covered by insurance if needed.
In hopes that this will go ahead, here's a wiki to see who's going and when.

Tempted for Feb 19....if lastminute.com/Philippine airlines were to cancel the tickets (i'm not sure whether it's the OTA or the airline that would cancel in this situation), do they have to do this within a certain time frame? Or are they in their rights to cancel, say, the week you fly out?

I can't speak to what law allows, but there were cases of tickets getting cancelled even after departure of their first flight.

I'm very curious. I was online for the moment so thought to try my luck for once. Bought two tickets for May next year, see what happens.

I booked for JAN and received an email with ticket number clearly stating Business Class. The PNR does not work on the PR website though.

I'm not holding great hopes but you never know. I booked with my AMEX - if you have an AMEX I highly recommend using it to book as in previous experiences where fares haven't been honoured i've found AMEX exceptional at getting a swift refund. If you book DO NOT use a debit type credit card. Make sure you use an actual CREDIT card as you have further purchase rights (in the UK/europe).

I remember there was ZRH-HKG for £89 on CX via Lastminute.com some time ago. Took a week to cancel.

Not yet. Lastminute.com is showing two PNR neither of which is pulling up the reservation.

Same here. Don't work yet.
Also the rate seems pulled from the website now.

I booked for March, instead of May...so if they cancel that wouldn't be that bad. In March I will just have come back from a three week holiday

booked on airfarenetwork for April. For some reason when I searched for two people the price went up. Had to book them separate but only 1 e-mail came through. Still waiting for other. Odd.
