Top tips for the "Dim Sum / Chicken adobo" fare:
  • At more than 5 weeks after most of us booked this fare it looks increasingly likely that the fare will stick. However prudence is still advisable and we should all avoid contacting the booking agent and if essential to contact try to deal with the airline direct.
  • Check that your original itenary is intact and ticketed as PAL revised their LHR flight schedule in early September and there appear to now only be 5 flights a week now rather than daily. Use TripCase to do this - see post #114 on how to do this (thanks to @MyFlights App). If you have incurred an involuntary change you can contact PAL and they will permit one change to amend your itenary. They appear to be flexible to shift flights to adjacent days, but if you try to push to be rerouted on another carrier to maintain the original itenary times you might find your flights are cancelled and you end up with a refund.
  • Online seat assignments are not possible on PAL when booked through a 3rd party, you have to call up, it is best to call PAL on 0808 164 9888 rather than the booking agent.
  • Whilst it looks like the fare is going to stick be aware that making other travel arrangements around this booking are at your own risk so consider making bookings that are refundable or covered by insurance if needed.
In hopes that this will go ahead, here's a wiki to see who's going and when.

Lets just hope for the best and for the chance of trying Philippine Airlines' Business Class in their brand new A350s - currently they only have 2 A350s but will receive additional two in the next couple of months! And their new hard product looks quite good so I'm crossing my fingers.

If the fare is credited, accept you got lucky. If it is not, then move on, but don't try and pin the blame on people for calling up and checking their bookings.

M
M, I’m naive enough - after well over a decade in here - to be sure I’m able to manage my expectations about a Premium fare deal.

As everyone else who’s here by long enough, I have my share of successes and failures, well knowing that sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Just on a vertical forum like this one you might expect long time users to be the first ones to follow written and unwritten rules

This section has just one; don’t call the airline until everything settles down (and this is for a number of different reasons I won’t go through).
Seems a pretty easy one to stick to, not to mention if departure date is 8 months away

That said, have I been too sarcastic? Sorry

Me too. I have been to HK last year and enjoyed it but if it was a destination I would never go again in my life, I would not have minded. As this possibly being my first Biz and its in Asia then I had snap it up! Keep a close eye on HK Express for their sales or AirAsia. CP redemptions with Avios is of course a possibility for those with a lot of points unlike me. I was thinking to visit Cambodia.

I might be looking into Cambodia to.
I know found award seats on QR. New Q-seat from HKG to DOH and then the A380 with bar experience from DOH to CDG. Then take the train back home

So we'll only be in Hong Kong for 48 hours ghehehe

How long would you wait with positioning flights? I don't wanna leave it till mid Oct or so and I'll probably check something (preferably refundable) next week.

Theres a lot of random dates upthread about when the A350 will be on the LHR route. I know PR keep changing it but i=whats the latest announcement? I know they have received at least their first (and maybe their second?) so would be doing short-haul familiarisation tests. Is LHR or JFK going to be the first route to get it?

Surely if they have four frames by christmas they be operating both routes with the A350? They cant delay the swapover any longer once they actually have the aircraft ready to go!

The A350 is expected to start service between LHR and MNL on 28 October.

They currently have 2 A350s and will receive two more in the next couple of months (according to A350 production sheet, one should be delivered very soon and the other is currently awaiting for first flight test).

Also, according to routes online the A350s will rotate to almost all major/premium markets including LHR, JFK, SYD, HKG, MEL, BKK. Planned A350-900XWB service introduction on the JFK route will be 29OCT18 (2 times a week) while for the London it will be on 15SEP18 (4 times a week) and then daily from 28OCT18.

Still no word. I know some people recommended waiting another week, but normally a response from either the airline or TA would be out there by now right? Just asking why it's taking so long do give some clarification.

Patience is a virtue in this game. I agree that usually action might be taken in the first week after booking, but as I suggested upthread, I would recommend sitting tight for another 3 to 4 weeks (end of first week in October) before making any specific plans - OTAs such as lastminute and bravofly will as a minimum have monthly financial reconciliation between themselves where they typically settle up finances between each other, and it is at this point that a discrepancy, if one exists, might be discovered. The longer we all leave things, the better it potentially is for everyone that has booked this fare.

I was also moved to another flight due to operational reasons. Looks like PR721 was cancelled on the 15th of May and I was moved to the 16th. This means I will arrive late at night and leave early the next morning. I suppose I will try push the return ahead by one day.
