Original premium fare deal was for QR J class travel, originating in Vietnam (SGN and HAN) to several destinations across the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Travel period 8/2017 - 3/2018 inclusive, RT fares in the USD 500 - 700 range (USD $0.05 base fare).

Reports have now been circulating that all held, non-purchased fares have been canceled by the airline. Some held and then purchased fares were also canceled, but several reports indicate at least some of those have been re-instated.

For more information on flying Qatar Airways, visit the FT forum: Qatar Airways | Privilege Club. This thread in that forum is especially useful: Qatar Airways Forum Dashboard.

This wikipost is intended to help us better understand if there are any trends (by route, travel date, and/or held/ticketed status) in these cancellations. In all entries, please include: outbound or inbound departure date, origin-destination, original ticket status (only *if* "Held" or "Ticketed after Hold"), and current ticket status only *if* your ticket was cancelled ("Cancelled" or "Cancelled & Reinstated").

Wow, I think I just got in under the wire - wasn't having any luck and started using the QR site's 15-day calendar. Found HAN-JFK in Feb and JFK-HAN in March, 2 pax $683 each. Connection on the JFK-HAN was awful (19 hours in DOH), so I started looking around on another browser for other options and suddenly nothing was available on any date. Fortunately my original flights held and was able to ticket.

Could be wrong but to all those who weren't lucky, I wouldn't panick. My gut feeling says more bargains are to arrive soon.

Did anyone else not get a confirmation email or ticket number? One of my bookings immediately gave me an eticket receipt and confirmation, but I haven't gotten anything from the other. Looks like two payments were made on my card, however.

a) these bargains - even outside of travel festival - tend to come in 'waves'. Wouldn't surprise me to see more popping up ex SE Asia.

b) QR can surely use any revenue at present - fill them up and get people excited about their product.

let's see what happens next.

Interesting. I hope so, as I just missed out.

Was this Golden ticket announced ahead of time?

There are some nice quiet sleeping rooms hidden away in the J lounge. You go through to the end of the cafe and down a hallway. Also a second set of showers which few people know about. I use this area for long connections that don't quite qualify for the free hotel. There's another area behind the lockers area just off the main entrance that has rest "pods". However, these are rather open to the terminal so noisy and not as private as the "cabins".

Not sure this fare qualifies for the free hotel, but I'll check as I have a 20-hour connection on the way back!

There's a post on the first or second page of this thread showing the Facebook posting of the "surprise" offering.

I was able to book SGN-DOH-NBO r/t for $548, plus another $280 to position from CGK, was able to get it to work for dates that I already had SIN-ADD-NBO booked on ET so it worked out for me since I was able to cancel the ET flights.
