got home last night. much smoother than last week...

plane was leaking hydraulic fluid on the runway on my lax to ord flight. waited like 20 min then everyone deboarded. a replacement plane was coming. I had a tight connection from ord to iad. called in to get a reroute while I was on the plane and made it just in time.

I was thinking about getting this totally screwed up and let it misconnect so I can do this in 2014 for the pqd when I had time since last week gave me a lot of extra pqm that I didn't really need this flight. almost 125k now.

wonder would I have been compensated for the misconnect and get a free night in iad or kwi.

on the way back storms on the east coast caused some havoc for some gave me a chance to give up a short flight for 200 compensation.

Due to the flight cancelled from IAD, BAH-IAD flight is also cancelled. Fortunately, I found it around 3pm, and called local United office to change my schedule with Lufthansa.. They put me on LH621 (BAH-FRA) and waitlist on FRA-ORD flight. However, after 10mins, it was cancelled automatically. Eventually, my schedule is automatically changed to tomorrow one with all "B" class with complimentary upgrade requested for BAH-IAD (what a glitch.. I think this is due to flight number UA17XX.. )

However, I had to leave today by all means, so I headed to the airport around 6pm. Just in case they don't change the schedule, I looked up award seats availability. LH has First class opening with 75000 miles, confirming A343 F in BAH-ORD and A747-8 in ORD-FRA.. I didn't think F seats won't be gone, so I didn't reserve it at that time. At the airport, I met several people (Sorry not to ask their nickname, but asked the real name..) Fortunately, I changed my schedule with all LH via FRA. Bad thing is my BAH-FRA class is L... Good thing is FRA-ORD class is Y... I tried to do *A upgrade, but it didn't work because it's within 24 hours.. Anyway, I managed to change my schedule and take 747-8 Intercontinental.. I think the other guy waiting with me also succeed changing the schedule to ORD..

After confirming my flight coupon, I headed to the city again to have a dinner and hang out.. When I came back to the airport, several guys were arguing the situation. They had boarding pass except "BAH-IAD", and they didn't know what happened because all United agents are gone. They tried to fix this issue with LH agents, but they couldn't help on this.. I explained what happened and gave them "good luck" However, their connecting schedule to other cities like Toronto will be all messed up..

I realized international mileage run is pretty dangerous, in the case there is only one schedule per day... All good luck stuck in IAD and BAH..

PS) In Bahrain airport, *G counter is not in the regular counter space. It's at the end of the terminal named "First/Business class check-in" sharing Gulf air and others. Please try to visit here.. Many of guys I met today didn't know this..
I was the guy who was connecting back to Toronto.
In the end, we got on the LH621 to FRA, and then LH456 to LAX. It all worked out ... after a lot of arguing and getting a Lufthansa rep to help us. The United rep basically walked out on us ... because her shift was done.

All my mileage has shown up excep those LH flights ... so filing a missing credit report with Air Canada. That being said ... I had a great time in Bahrain and I talked my way into an executive tour of the Bahrain International Circuit over there. Definitely a story ... I'll post my blog links for the Tree of Life and other things we did in our 23 hour stint!

The flights I took on LH will not count for 1MM. I need to plan my next mileage run better.

From a previous post, it seems that a multiple entry visa good for 90 days is offered at customs. Can anyone confirm that? Thanks!

Question for those of you who have recently completed this MR:

I'm about to do this MR this weekend. How many of you were able to "keep" a whole row of E+ seats for these flights? Did any of you lose a seat to a last minute boarder?

On my outbound IAD-BAH, there are currently approximately 7 open E+ rows. The return has only 1. I'm hoping my seat/row remains just me, but am wondering what the odds are.

Any thoughts or personal experience with this scenario?

You and me both. I ended up changing my outbound seat hoping that I would give up my window seat and move to a few rows behind so I could take up all three seats as well. On the return, so far I am not seeing an empty row for three seats. Hopefully, my seat mate gets upgraded so I could take three seats. A wishful thinking.. ;-)

I was fortunate to up-fare and fly in BF on my outbound, but I spoke to a handful of others who were in economy and all seemed to have their own rows on the outbound. Given my height (6'5"), I'm not sure that wouldn't have been better. The BF seat was too narrow and short to really be comfortable. But that's a bit off-topic.

On my return, I flew BAH-DOH-FRA-IAD-SFO-LAX. On the FRA-IAD flight, I was doing the same thing -- watching for anyone sitting next to me. In the end, one person did, so I moved to one of the 7 or 8 other rows of 3 that were empty, and I was able to stretch out a little and sleep pretty well. So while it isn't exactly your situation, I do think there's a good chance that the outbound is fine. The return, with only 1 row of open E+ seats...that one might not work out.

on my last flight I had a row to myself going in but on the return no row of 3's. plenty of empty middle aisles tho so most were fairly comfortable.

Regarding UA982/UA1757 IAD-BAH on Nov 9 - does anyone know if the UA 'appreciation credit' applies to each flight - the cancelled UA982/new 1757 and the return flight UA1759 Nov 11 (immediate turn-around)?

Did anyone who received the gesture of "appreciation" related to the delayed flights from Nov 9-11th choose the Mileage Option, and if so have you been credited? It said to allow 2 weeks, and it is nearly two weeks. No points as of yet for me

Annapurna from what I understand, the people opted to fly a day late got compensation for both outbound and inbound, but those who opted to fly home got partial refunds and compensation for one leg (but I stand to be corrected on this).

Sadly for me, I was trying for a mini-vacation and as a result lost a day in Qatar, but will only get compensated for the outbound flight (was still able to catch the scheduled inbound).

Angry WTH - non-UA not given equal compensation?!?

So, I just finally got around to filling in the compensation form (wanted to do it on a home computer for screen shots etc) and after clicking the button for being a non-UA member (I'm collecting on AE as, for me, that is a better program for my current travel patterns), I get offered $200 **ONLY WHEN PURCHASED WITH A CREDIT CARD WITH VALID BILLING ADDRESS IN THE 50 US STATES** or a 20% discount.

Are they joking?!

So, suggestions on my options here?
  • Join UA and try again?
  • Contact UA by email? (any suggestions on a specific email address to use?)
  • Other?

On a more positive note, all my points posted as they should.
