Does anyone else do MR on the way to work each week?

I am in the habit of maximizing miles only when I fly for work each week.
I would never do a MR on my off day or weekend. Just not my cup of tea. I can accumulate during the week pretty easy. I always tack on useless connections to get to my customer sites each week when I can, with 500 mile minimums, it's easy.

Example, I live south of SNA but working in SAT for a 6 months. CLD is pretty close with cheaper parking and 500 mile min per flight. I can fly SNA with one connection or LAX to SAT non stop via UA and return the same way, cost $1100 approx. Instead I fly CLD>LAX>ORD>SAT early Sunday and return SAT>ORD>LAX>CLD later in week approx. same price with approx. 6500 miles RT per week. If costs is more then I will pick cheapest RT with most miles regardless.

Anyone else doing this kind of MR during the week? Customer doesn't care as long as airfare is cheaper.

I also do the same. Again, my travel days are booked as travel days, i can work using the Delta Go Go wireless and as long as the flight is the same or cheaper life is good.

i also use my work flight schedule to position for weekend MR type getaways. Did LAX/SFO -SJU 3 times last year to do some diving and NYC-OGG once also to do some diving. Was able to leverage VDB vouchers to pay for most of cost.

If my travels take me near Houston, i may shoot to BOM as I already have a Visa.

I'm just starting at this but thats basically my 2nd run. Work trip was actually $100 cheaper by tacking on 5000mi to the return

While I was consulting and in the air every week all I wanted to do was get home for the weekend, so I can't imagine extending any flights.

Last thing I want to do is add more hours to my work week.

I agree, but I am only adding 4 hours total a week for a few extra miles/segments. I only do this until I reach Plat or 1K then settle back in a normal route.
