Here they have 7500 USD per person, when 2 person flying together + taxes, LOL.
The USA-Australia routes have to be about the worst value for premium fares in the world. Perhaps Virgin Australia will give them a run for their money and start pushings fares down to a more realistic level.

UA have plastered their website about their prices having gone "down, under". The sale includes Z fare for around 5K, non-refundable, 250$ change fee and 1 free stopover (not in HNL). Which begs the question, why would anyone think it's a good deal if a quick check on ita, shows 4K C class fares, fully refundable, changeable and with unlimited stopovers on SK ex-LHR via BKK connecting on TG.

Yeah, those fares are unpleasant. You can get a OneWorld Circle Pacific starting in Canada in D class for $8,100 CAD, which (at around $6k USD) is a lot less than a RT on QF, and IIRC sometimes UA has $5k I fares.

I was looking at Business fares forn next March from LAX to SYD and UA was $4500 while Virgin Australia was over $13,000.

I know that some people will say that I could do 2 or 3 MRs in plebe class for the same amount of money (and potentially can use e500s or certs to upgrade), but time seems to be my bigger concern -- I don't have enough weekends to burn doing MRs!

Would love to get my fellow FTers input/insights/opinions.

Cheers!

To clarify, this appears at the bottom of your BP when you OLCI:

No longer traveling on this flight? Cancel your check-in before your departure or your ticket will be no longer valid. To cancel online, go to EasyCheck-in Online at united.com.

I think these SK fares are part-C, part-Y. That is, C on SK to BKK then Y BKK to Oz on TG. Sometimes the C on SK is only one way, Y the other.

Starting from Australia, however, this date-flexible fare at around 4k USD includes not only transpac C between USA and Australia on UA or QF both ways, but ALSO a C return on LH from USA to Europe. [Make that F to Europe for an extra $2k.]

I've seen deals in the $4000 range on V-Australia, but only when they have a special sale. They won't be filling many seats at $13,000 when QF gets most aussie companies and all of the governments business.

V Aus don't really have "sales" more than 9 months out. So Im sure there fares for next April will be considerably cheaper in say 2 months.

It's still not bad.

It is now $1116. It still comes out to 6-7 cents per mile, which for a premium fare, is really pretty good. I'm happy with it. I'm gonna do it. You're in business & first the entire flight. Still cheaper than the 13 cents per mile that I paid for a MR to get to 1k... ^

No, it is business class all the way. Comparatively a decent deal, available from other Eur cities too, but not CPH of course.

Wow, that's an excellent fare! However, at least the flights to the US seem to have a 10 day minimum stay requirement.

The Austrian offer is good, but the 10-day min stay rule makes it difficult to utilise. I was considering a long weekend in NYC, but 10 days is out of the question.

Great fare if you can make it work!
