I think you can get a transit visa or something, for 36 hours. But don't quote me.

So, does this earn miles anywhere BESIDES the airline's own plan? If not, I'm doubtful any FT members could even use this fare.

Over on the Middle East forum, there are multiple threads devoted to the topic of Saudi visas. Although this citation looks promising, it's always ambiguous, and I haven't seen anyone post a recent case of actually obtaining a Saudi transit visa.

Well, I'll be perfectly content if I never go back to that country again in my lifetime so I have no interest in trying this myself (not even considering the worthless Saudia only miles). The info I posted is the IATA info, so a transit visa shouldn't be needed. Perhaps if one wanted to leave the airport you might apply at in country at the airport, but if you stay in the airport then according to the info given to airlines, you're good to go.

Hmmm.... maybe depends on whether its over Saudi Airspace or where the final destination of the flight is.

BTW, using the quote feature makes your addition much easier to read.

Does anyone know if this one is route based or has a hip check?
