You can stay at LGA for much less than $300. More like $100.

Same here. All I see in October is $110 for 0-1 night, available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Is it gone?

Hotels outside of Manhattan are generally obtainable for far less than $300/nt. If you're doing this and staying in Manhattan for a pure mileage run, you're probably spending too much on your hotel.

Given the 6.3c per mile cost, I've moved this across to this thread.

It might be of interest for people wishing to do a late-December trip to the east coast for other purposes than a pure MR.

Manhattan hotels are also possible for well under $150/night. Often it requires a little creativity, but I end up doing it regularly. Usually I can manage to get a major chain hotel for well under $150/night, sometimes even free. Otherwise there is always NJ hotels on the cheap for mileage runs to/from the area.

Not as good as what WWE described in post 1450, but...

Sao Paulo or Rio to PHL (of all places) for $694ai r/t on AA. O fare, 14 day advance, maximum stay of 90 days but travel needs to be complete by Feb 28. Sample dates are Nov 5 - Nov 12. Seven-day minimum stay, so this might work better for people in North America trying to blend this with some other trips. Finding availability of the O fare for the return is difficult in 2013. Route via DFW for something approaching 5.5 cpm.

Similar fare is filed from GRU or GIG into LAS.

I was just about to post the same price for a different route: RDU-SFO
Wide availability when routing via DFW or CHI, scattered options for routing through JFK. Seems to be good through EOS.

Edit: CLE, PIT, BWI and EWR are available for the same price, too.

UA: MIA-SFO 240 a.i.

UA: MIA-SFO 240 a.i., G fare, decent availability and good through EOS. 10 day advance purchase, good any day of the week.

This looks like a broad discount on AA for some good transcon fares....(maybe a mini-attack against UA?)....
ex-SFO looks to have the most options:

AA: SFO-EWR/CLE/RDU/PIT/BWI/DCA/IAD $240ai

Other pairs may be available (ex-LAX/SAN/SMF/PDX)....Some of these will probably be posted on the main board....the best I currently see:
AA: Oct 2-3 PDX-LAX-IAD-LAX-PDX $240ai (6230mi ~3.9cpm) (AS/AA)

This one is for UA: SFO-MIA ~$237ai (some FTers may not be able to read the title - on some platforms)

UA: BOS-LAS $240 a.i.

UA: BOS-LAS from $240 a.i., G fare, through April 12, 2013
21 day advance purchase, good any day of the week.

Example: $249.-

BOS-IAD-SFO-LAS 10/27
LAS-SFO-IAD-BOS 10/27 (red-eye)

~6500 miles (~3.8 cpm) without 500 minimum. With elite minimum, routing through EWR yields slightly better results. Or try routing through IAH and SFO.

Good find. I'd suggest posting this as a new post in the MR forum.
