24-hr restaurants at/near ORD?

Hi all,

So, I've got an itinerary that gives me a 3-hr layover in ORD between a US flight from PHX that arrives at 3:30am and a 6:30am UA flight.

I've started the day at ORD at 4am enough times to know better than to spend a full 3 hrs there if I don't have to, so does anyone know of any 24-hr restaurants that are within manageable distance of the airport?

Thanks!

There are a couple around the Jefferson Park neighborhood a few miles east; there are probably others in the suburbs (and early-opening hotel restaurants), but you won't get that city-greasy-spoon experience.

Try this link (and call before going, as these places tend to come and go with some regularity)

Very near ORD, but probably a $20 cab ride. Look at the companu website.

If you're planning to use the L, be aware that there is significant construction going on, including a bus replacement from O'Hare to Rosemount for a good chunk of July.

I have actually waited out some flight delays at this resturant. They are very nice and will let you sit around for a couple of hours with a small order. They also give you all you can drink soda's. Of course, it is just table service fast food. They also serve breakfast (although I am not sure how early it starts).

Smile Restaurant suggestions at or around ORD?

Hi everyone
I will have a 6 hour stop over in ORD on the 10th of august. Im looking for a place to eat either at the airport (never been to ORD yet) or somewhere close by. I am looking for some suggestions please. I am a student and would rather not spend more than 10-20$ for a meal before a flight to europe later on in the day. If travel is easy enough from O'hare to downtown that could also work. If you know of a place that is easily accessible from the airport, please send some directions on how to get there
If it helps I will be departing from terminal 1, as I am flying on Lufthansa

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

You can take a train from the airport to downtown Chicago. It takes about 55 minutes if I recall correctly to get downtown. For a 6 hour layover I would either buy access to an airline lounge or head downtown.

There's plenty to do on Chicago's waterfront if your layover is during the day or early evening. Plus gives you an opportunity to get some of that good Chicago Pizza. If you like coffee/espresso, make sure you visit Intelligensia coffee in downtown Chicago.

Lou Malnati's is a couple blocks from the Clark and Lake blue line station (from ORD). Ride in the back of the train and take the Wells Street exit from the station. Walk across the river (north) and up a couple of blocks and you're there! 349 N. Wells.

You could always take the cab to the Elk Grove Portillo's.... good Chicago-Style Hot Dogs (note: no ketchup allowed!)
