THat'd be great! Though I've never flown Emirates, I've heard nothing but good things, so I'd love to check it out. A good excuse to go to Dubai??

Any updates on this issue?

It would be great to get their great service and connect once to middle east destinations.

You can get to the middle east with one connection on any airline.

Delta - connect in ATL
Continental - connect in EWR
Royal Jordanian - connect in AMM
Lufthansa - connect in FRA/MUC
British Airways - connect in LHR

etc

Not to cite the obvious but EY, Etihad, flies nonstop from Chicago directly to Abu Dhabi. How much more convenient could you get? If you're going to Jebel Ali or Marina area it's probably just as easy as DXB.

Hearing great things about EY, they fly an airbus 340. Good food, good service.

Any updates on ORD? I did see an emirates truck at ORD December 17th 2010. Is that a sign?

I think EK has a cargo operation out of O'Hare, so not a sign that passenger service is coming anytime soon.

Officially, nothing yet. Mid October is a time frame I'll see anything official. The decision to operate at ORD will fall on the ability to operate the A380. As of now, T5 has one gate which could be used. (M13) M15 would need to be restricted to A330's and smaller.

There are plans being looked at to make sure the 787, 748 and 380 will all be accommodated at T5.

Bumping this thread to inform folks that the next US destinations for EK will be DFW 2/2/12 and SEA 3/1/12. It's somewhat surprising as many thought MIA, IAD and ORD were on the short list ahead of those markets.

I agree, there's one more U.S. city they plan to announce and my gut is saying it's going to be on the east coast. (October 13 is the IATA deadline for S12 slot/schedule submission and yes, airlines are still required to submit both to the FAA and us.) That's why I previously mentioned I'll know officially in Oct.

EK knows Chicago won't be an easy city to operate from. With EY already established, the UA/LH juggernaut and many other international options to fly on, they'll have a battle.
