This is good news and I hope Republic is successful with their acquisitions of both Midwest and Frontier. IMO, this acquisition will help provide a big boost to the Midwest operations, especially with all of the competitive pressures in MKE.

As I've said before, Republic now has access to the Frontier play book on how to compete with an aggressive LCC on your home turf and thrive. Plus, they have Sean Menke in the fold who can help Republic turn things around at Midwest.

I think it's even more likely now that we'll be seeing Airbus jets in the Midwest paint scheme sooner rather than later. It would also be a huge plus if they install Live TV (like Frontier has) and perhaps Wi-Fi. Both of these features could produce nice streams of revenue for Republic.

Republic also has an opportunity to further enhance the Midwest/Frontier frequent flier programs and on-board service at both carriers and I hope that they don't drop the ball.

We've witnessed some major changes to the airline industry in recent weeks. If Republic plays their cards right, they could become a very formidable competitor.

Denver
Durango
LaGuardia (???)
Rapid City

Frontier will be able to sell tickets to these cities using Midwest flights:
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Indianapolis
Washington
La Guardia
Milwaukee
Denver
Nashville
Dayton
Orlando
Fort Myers
Philadelphia

More to come on both directions from what I've heard.
While this may not be a complete list, it's interesting that some cities seem to be excluded. Boston in particular seems to be a glaring example. With no service at all on Frontier, I thought BOS would be on the initial roll-out (and it may still be).

Same here on BOS. To the west, there are plenty of large unserved places to be added like Portland, San Diego, Sacramento, Salt Lake, etc. On the Midwest side, those are currently served with their existing code share via MSP, however.

I would be very surprised if most of these larger destinations (on both sides) are not added in the next wave or two of additions. Perhaps they wanted to get through the initial teething period with some of the potentially-highest-volume ones running. Most of the via-Denver markets Midwest is getting in round one are small, and most of the via-Milwaukee markets Frontier is getting in round one are cities they already serve nonstop. There will be some traffic going both directions in this round, but in lesser numbers than routes like DEN-BOS and MKE-SAN could generate.

Is Frontier going to keep their relationship with Airtran now that they also work with Midwest?

Will Midwest get inflight Wifi on all of it's planes? I just flew SEA-MKE on Airtran and it was nice to have

It will be interesting to see how much additional traffic this codeshare generates for both carriers.

As I've said in other posts, I think this could help Midwest significantly in MKE with route fortification. Besides the current roster of flights, I believe that BDL and RDU in particular could be great additions to the YX route network and would benefit greatly from DEN feed.

During the winter months, the additional traffic would help give some of the traditional East Coast business destinations a nice boost as well.

I also think we'll be seeing more frequency/larger aircraft on the MKE-DEN route too.

We'll see how things play out.

This was discussed at the Midwest DO in June. YX executives stated that they will have to have Wi-Fi to remain competitive, especially given the airline's target customer-the business traveler.

Not only that, Republic was forced to materially improve its bid.

Southwest also got a look at those books, too, and could use the info against F9 in DEN and YX in MKE when it starts up service.

Indeed, but now they will have to do battle in both DEN and MKE.

I still can't believe how badly Southwest bungled their proposed acquisition of Frontier. This is especially true for an airline that has traditionally been managed very well.

It will be interesting to see how aggressive Southwest becomes in DEN and MKE in the coming months. I'd imagine they're very unhappy with how badly they got slapped-down yesterday.

From frontierairlines.com, FAQs regarding the new partnership:

http://www.frontierairlines.com/fron...854653A30206A3

As of right now, there is no detailed info or Frontier codeshare map posted on the YX site, nor ability to book F9 codeshare flights online.

When I try to book YX codeshare flights on the F9 site, however, it directs me to FL.

Frontier codeshare flights now loaded on YX site.

A test booking resulted in the YX fare for F9 codeshare flights pricing at about 35% higher, than if booked directly on F9.

If you notice the legend it says 'code share flights operated by Republic DBA Midwest Connect.' There are no flights with "Midwest Airlines."

If you look closely at the legend, you'll see that the standard Midwest Airlines matches up with some of the codeshare routes out of Milwaukee.
