QRO to Xilitla

Hello. I hope I'm posting in the right forum.

I'm planning to fly into QRO for 6 days, 5 nights.

I want to drive up into the eastern hills -- wine and cheese district, Bernal, Pinal de Amoles, Jalpan de Serro, Xilitla and Las Pozas, then back to QRO...

Has anyone driven this route? There is a lot of Mission history and scenic places.

I'm looking for decent hotels for about $100 USD per night (double) or less, due to time of year (early February), I'm not interrsted in swimming pool, as weather will be cool.

Any suggestions are appreciated..

Thank you.

PS Also, looking for any dining suggestions, good food, not super fancy, say $25 USD per person, thanks!

So, I was there some years ago, but our family hired a van and driver so I cant give any info on that. We also did AirBnB, which went very well so suggest you consider that. Read the following thread - it has LOTS of good information and links:
