Metrobus Linea 4

I'm VERY familiar with Mexico City - been there more than 35 times. I used to take the Metro when DL & NW flew into T1. Now, it's a little more complicated from T2. I've been using Taxi Ejecutivo (I think). I want to try the Metrobus Linea 4.

Questions:

1) I hava Metrobus Card. I guess I'll be able to add $$$ to it at the airport station if I need to? I have no idea how much is left on it.

2) For the ride back, I'm used to using a street taxi - it's sooo cheap - but the Metrobus appears to be stopping right outside of the Ramada Reforma! As a shopaholic, how is this bus with, maybe 3 of 4 bags for the ride back?

3) The route is confusing. From the Metrobus webiste:

http://www.metrobus.df.gob.mx/mapa_L4.html

3a) The route appears to go from the city to T1, then to T2, then back to the city. Is that right? I'll need to plan enough time on the way back to the airport.

3b) In the city, the route shows a HUGE circle. How does this work? How does it complete the northern and southern parts of the circle, and in which directions?

Thanx! :)

I'll be getting off near Reforma / Hidalgo.

Yes, there are recharge stations near the stops at both terminals.

Even 3-4 large bags is possible-- usually the airport busses are relatively empty-- there are luggage racks... and you'll see on your inbound trip.

Yes, it's about an extra 5-10m to T2 as a result, plan on 10m.

There are two routes, Ruta Norte & Ruta Sur. The busses that go to AICM are Norte. If you need Sur/South route, you'll have to change at San Lazaro (bit of delay)

Does anyone know offhand whether the Maison Kayser bakery in the T2 departure gates is located at the end of the international concourse or the end of the domestic concourse? The AICM website hasn't been updated yet to reflect its existence, let alone its location.

Their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MaisonKayserMexico says they're at the entry to T-2.

Ya estamos preparándonos para recibirte en la entrada del aeropuerto T2.

No Internet source in Castilian Spanish seems to situate it more specifically, only saying it's at T-2.

See their website: http://www.maison-kayser.com.mx

HQ at: Paseo de la Reforma #408, Mexico City, Mexico
Tel. +52 55 5207 4205

Says "Ciudad de México. Terminal 2, Sala de última espera" (the boarding gates waiting area) but no idea if domestic or international.

Apologies for the delay in responding. It's definitely located in the T2 gate area, near the very end of one of the concourses -- I just can't remember which one. In any case, it turns out that I will transit through T2 later this summer and will have a few extra minutes to refresh my memory.

I transited through T2 a few day ago - and took advantage of the Maison Kaiser that's now open in the departure area. I believe it was located at about gate 50 or so. They are doing a good business, sandwiches, salads, pastries, etc. They "make the sandwiches to order" more or less, and it will take a few minutes to get one after you order. I think pricing was about 120 pesos, similar for the good looking salads. The sandwich was good, not great. Its not M-K as in Paris....

The Maison Kaiser being set up near the entrance to T2 was under construction, and not yet open. All this is decidedly good news for the airport.

Left luggage options?

(Hope this is the right place for this - I read through this whole thread and the wiki but didn't see it....)

What are the current options for left luggage at MEX? Safe? Reliable? Reasonable cost?

I'm sketching in the rough outlines of a trip to Mexico for next year. The high-level plan is to fly from our home in the USA into MEX (probably arriving on Southwest Airlines), drop a couple bags at the airport, then head out to the monarch butterfly reserves for a couple days (probably basing at Angangueo). After doing the butterfly thing, return to MEX, pick up our bags, then fly out to Cabo San Lucas (probably on Aeromexico). We would return to the US directly from Baja.

We will be packing for (at least) two very different environments/activities on this trip: visiting the butterfly reserves involves high altitude/small town/hiking up the mountains (warm during the day, cold at night), and scuba diving in Baja (hot, gear-intensive). We will have dive equipment in two fairly large duffel bags (one each; not excessively large by checked bag standards, but bigger than carry-on size). Of course, we do not need or want to schlepp the dive gear bags out to Angangueo - that's crazy. I'm looking for a safe, secure, reliable and not-crazy expensive place to leave the dive bags at the airport for about 2-3 days.

I've stumbled across websites that report there are luggage lockers and also a left luggage room/service at MEX. The web reports I've found have not been updated in years, so I'm looking for current/recent info. Also looking for some sense of cost, plus security. I'm not going to leave things that are obviously highly valuable and easily liquidated (eg cash, cameras, gold bricks...) but while some of the dive gear ain't cheap, it's probably not a thief's favorite target. I know there are no guarantees of anything, but I want to feel reasonably confident that upon return, the dive bags will be there, with nothing missing, and nothing crushed due to abuse or carelessness.

Can anyone here provide recent info on left luggage options at MEX for my situation? Thank you!!!

Hi, nwflyboy ... there's luggage storage in both Terminals. Two locations in T1 (one is near Puerta 8, across from Wings restaurant -- the other is by the Hertz counter, near Puerta 1). There are also lockers at T2.

You're charged per 24-hour period. Depending on the size of your bag, you'll pay either 100, 120, or 140 pesos. So, less than USD$10 per bag. This, at least, is the cost at this T1 Puerta 8 location, which I verified in person two weeks ago.

Haven't made use of their lockers personally, but I have friends who have left bags there (generally less than a day, mind you), and they haven't had any issues.

Is there any way to get in a gym workout during a layover in T2? I read somewhere that the Camino Real near T1 offers day passes to its fitness center, but I assume that would add a significant length of time. As for the NH within T2 itself, they have a fitness center but I can't find any references to day pass access.

At last resort, you could call, e-mail or drop by and ask.

Uber is the best thing that could happen in MEX :)

They'll be at the door 5 min max after you request
Price: Between $100 and $150 MXN for UberX depending on the traffic
