Global Rate Break + EEO
Anyone have any info if you can use the bogo weekend EEO with the global rate break that is going on now? The rate rules say it is not combinable with other special offers, however it is a public rate. I got different answers from different agents when asking. Did this successfully on the last rate break special and didn't have an issue, but just trying to make sure ahead of time again.

I had done this before and had no problem. To play safe, I suggest you to send a message to Marriott thru "Contact Us" and quote your reservation number, and request them to document on your reservation that you are going to use the EEO coupon. They will reply to you. If the first agent does not give you a right answer, send another one hopefully will reach another agent that will give you the good answer.

Here we go again
We have the same debate every time Marriott puts up one of these promos. You get 20% off (so it's an promo/offer) but don't need to put in a code to get it (so should qualify for EEO0). I think it should be fine (wishful thinking) but apparently Marriott doesn't. Search for the old threads. Anyway, I try to look for hotels that only have this rate and no weekend or leisure rates. So there aren't any other rates for them to book that would qualify for an EEO BOGO (like packages) and then the csr will usually book it and note my EEO, if not I say thank you, hang up, and call right back. Worked today first try. $79 for two nights is not too shabby. Good luck with it.

I'm glad Marriott Concierge has changed tunes
This is a quote from the Rejuvination Promotion:
Hi everyone,
As GlennTheBaker pointed out, this promotion cannot be combined with any other offer, discount coupon, sale promotion, prior purchase or purchase of a gift certificate. Premium Pounds and Bonus Bucks are discount coupons and cannot be used in conjunction with the RejuvaNATION promotion.
Best regards,
Drew

Please don't mix up discount coupons & EEO!
You quoted Marriott Concierges answer from a year ago referring to last years RejuvaNATION rate and the question if discount coupons like Bonus Bucks & Premium Pounds are accepted.
Please mind: The OP asked if s/he can book Global Rate Break and redeem EEO. As this is a publicly listed rate which is also available at third party sites MR always accepted EEO redemption. Therefore I have no doubt that MR offers EEO redemption on a publicly bookable rate (confirmed by Kate on May 21st 2009).
My concerns are the knowledge of and the willingness to accept EEO as method of payment for the second free weekend night at Marriott & Renaissance hotels. As Marriott promote these offers, I assume they are glad if we use it. Remembering some issues at check in/out, I have the impression that some service professionals dont see it that way. Thanks to the assistance of Marriott Concierge Team I always got what I was entitled for. But way that hassle on the first place?

I believe EEO is an offer and Marriott Concierge said "cannot be combined with any other offer". But anyway if you read through that whole thread you'll see that this was referring to EEOs also. Quote from post 46 there:
"Again, this promotion cannot be combined with any other offer, discount coupon, sale promotion, prior purchase or purchase of a gift certificate. EEOs are special offers and cannot be used in conjunction with the RejuvaNATION promotion. I apologize for the misinformation you, and others, were provided. If a hotel accepts the combination of the RejuvaNATION rate and any other offer, discount coupon, sale promotion, or prior purchase or purchase of a gift certificate, it is a goodwill gesture and not a requirement for them to do so.
Best regards,
Drew"
Don't get me wrong I believe they should be valid especially considering my point in that thread, that at many hotels I have no choice but to book the Global Rate rate (if I don't want a golf package or a spa package and those wouldn't work for EEos anyway) and it's not right (and a little silly) that I can't book a hotel for the next few weeks and not be able to use an EEO. But you can read through the whole thread for all the points and counterpoints.

Again, you are referencing posts on another Marriott Promotion. The Global Rate Break is a publicly available rate and it is combinable with the EEO as confirmed by the Platinum Reservation line for me this morning.
In addition, on May 21, 2009 Kate, one of the Marriott Reps on this board, responded as follows to a question raised in a similar thread as referenced a few posts up.
Hello,
The Global Rate Break is a publicly listed rate, so yes, you will be able to redeem your EEO's with rooms booked with the rate.
Regards,
Kate

I still envision problems using the EEO, not only with the Global Rate Break, but with any rate and I am sure I will be calling the Plat line again, as I have done so often in the past, to get it resolved while trying to check out. This seems to be a training issue, because most of the FD staff do not know how to process these and there is usually no management presence on a Sunday morning, IME.
Regards,
RIP...

Well we'll see what happens... I'm booking a couple stays with the rate break since I found some great deals. I'll call and just have it noted on my reservation.
Normally my problem hasn't been getting the hotel to accept the EEO, its been the desk agent trying to figure out what it is and what to do with it.. lol

@ travelismylife:
I am not interesting in following arguments within an endless and outdated thread, if I have proof of the relevant answer!
One more time: OP asked if s/he can redeem EEO on booking "Global Rate Break". This rate was offered in spring and a similar question was answered by Kate in plain and simple words.
Please re-read post # 8.

Ok
No one's putting a gun to your head, at least I hope not. All I'm saying is they are the same exact 20% off public rate promotions (albeit diff. names) and Marriott Concierge has completely reversed their position. There's no way around it, the two posts are 100% a contradiction. I understand that in this promo we have a definitive answer, as I wrote earlier. All I care about is that this doesn't change when the same 20% publicly listed promo rate rolls out next April or May. I wish somebody would've explained this to the hotels and csrs who turned me down last year, not that big a deal as I just called again and went to diff. hotels, so I worked it anyway.
Now if we can only get this same definitive answer for a publicly listed package. Such as when you put in no code and the top three rates are packages and the regular weekend rate is more expensive. I even tried calling the hotel and telling them that I didn't want the package (free drinks and internet...) just the rate but got turned down. But alas perhaps I hope for too much.
