I didn't get a link or an invite either, but did see after clicking on promotions/progress that indeed I had been pre-registered.

Same 35K/20 and 50K/25 with Visa as the OP. Same AmEx problem as others. Hello SPG...

Are any of the alternate offers not dependent on the Visa requirement?

I got the same offer, nights and not stays, but without the 'paid with Visa' requirement!

I got the 35k/20 nights, 50k/25 nights, pay with VISA offer.

Does anyone know if Marriott uses your upcoming reservations that are already booked to determine which offer you get?

I've got 14 nights booked during the promotion period at a relatively expensive hotel (that's all I have booked right now), so the double points/nights would be much better for me (I'd get significantly more than 50k points that way, plus the double nights). I wonder if that helped drive which promotion I was given. Anyone else ever feel like their promotion was chosen based on their upcoming stays?

I highly doubt that it is completely random.

Ditto on Visa

Same thing - gotta pay with Visa...

Stay: At any of more than 3,000 participating Marriott hotels from September 15, 2009, through January 15, 2010, and pay with your Visa Card.

Earn: 35,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights, and an additional 15,000 after 25 total paid nights, for a total of 50,000 MegaBonus points.

Would love to know any insight like the others - can a portion of this be paid with Visa? (and the rest with my corporate Amex)

Got the 40k offer.

This WILL NOT generate any stays with Marriott from me. I really don't like the "all or nothing" approach this time around. In all my previous megabonus promotions, points were awarded after every 3/4 stays/nights which allowed you to earn at least something if you were not able to hit the 20-30 nights required for the full bonus total. Now I would have to stay 15 nights to get a single bonus point, and if I happened to fall one short, I would get nothing. Not to mention that 20 nights would only earn me 40,000, just 2 free nights at a Cat4.

Sorry Marriott, I will stay with your competitors who appreciate my business without requiring I stay 15 nights before I get a single bonus point.

I'm bummed that I didn't get the double nights, but I did get the 50k promotion. I'll call and ask for the double nights, or there is a minimal chance I'll make Plat again, and possibly Gold. Else, I'm off to Hilton to enjoy Diamond status.

Yikes.
Probably targeted based on tier and recent vs historical usage.

Thanks to Flyertalk for information

Hooray - thanks to Flyertalk I found out about this promotion! -- I guess I would have seen it eventually on the Marriott Rewards promotions pages but, glad to know earlier. Here is what we got:

Platinum spouse: Was preregistered; 35,000 after 20, 25,000 after the next 15, for 50,000 total. Use Visa Card

Silver spouse: Not preregistered; 2500 points per stay starting with second stay, up to 25,000. Use Visa card.

Not sure these fit us the best, we'll have to see - like some others, would have liked another chance at double elite nights.

New to Marriott this year, was status-matched to gold and have 37 nights so far, but I am bummed about this tie to the Visa card. Guess no Megabonuses for me.

BTW, just checked my account online, and my maximum bonus was 25,000: 5,000 every other paid stay.

When I tried to register using the link, I got a page that says:
"Unfortunately, it seems that you are not eligible for the MegaBonusSM promotion, so we could not register you. "
