My meagabonus is also 5,000 points for every second stay, up to 25,000 points by April 30.

Hi all. Quick question.
I'm signed up for Megabonus - 20 nights = 40,000 pts.
Does an "Award" night count in that 20?
On a similar subject, does Award nights count towards Plat status?

Short answer ...

No, awards do not count. Just like award flights don't earn status.

We recently achieved gold at the beginning of the year. Here's the offer we received. How do they come up with all these different plans?
No wonder the reps never can figure out how to answer our questions.

"Register by March 31 to Earn up to 15,000 MegaBonusSM Points

You're not dreaming. This is real and a really good opportunity to earn thousands of extra Marriott RewardsŪ points. Just register for the MegaBonus promotion and receive 3,000 points for every other paid stay you make at Marriott hotels - starting with your second stay. You can earn a maximum of 15,000 bonus points toward the vacation of your dreams."

I am going to have 15 stays, and only 16 nights, during this MegaBonus, so I was planning on switching to the 7,000 points for every 3rd stay promo.

Can someone confirm that this begins on the first stay and not the second like some of the other stay promos do?

Thanks.

Will Marriott use the check-in or check-out date to determine eligibility? That is, would a 4/30-5/1 stay count for this promo?

Apologies if this is a common question, but I couldn't find the answer anywhere.

Marriott Concierge Apr 29, 2009 1:33 pm

Any stay will count towards the promotion as long as check-in or check-out dates fall within the promotional dates. So yes, a 4/30 check in would count.

It depends on the offer when the stays start counting, some are after the second stay and some begin with the first stay.

The 7,000 point offer is: earn 7,000 after 3 stays up to a total of 35,000 points.

How do you switch promos? I was automatically registered.

Call them or email them. The higher your status the more chance they will change you, but, I haven't noticed people struggling to do it.

Only that its effectively retroactive by this point might make them more reluctant I can imagine.

I sent an email today to change my promo and received a reply saying they're unable to alter promos, so I called and had no trouble changing it.

For those of us who were able to switch promos, has anyone had trouble gettingt their points to post?

I switched out (CS said they put a note in my account of the switch) of a 20 nghts for 35k points promo to 5k (I think) for every second stay. My promo page says that I didn't achieve my goal. If the points need to be manually added, do I have to call back and ask for them to be posted?

I did the exact same thing as you - called to switch promos. My promo page still showed that I was registered for the 20 nights promo and didn't make it; however, my recent transactions shows the 10k for the 5k/2nd stay promo. I didn't need to call back to get this to occur - the note in my profile was sufficient.

Check your recent activity - if the megabonus didn't post yet, then you might want to call. But, it's very possible you've already gotten the credit, even though it doesn't show up in your megabonus promo page.

Thanks for the quick reply. I double checked my account and no megabonus. I'll call on Monday.

Glad to be able to help. MR is usually pretty good about situations such as this, so I doubt you'll have any issues getting it worked out.
