incorrect amount of points credited?

We stayed 2 nights at the Milwaukee Marriott West over the Memorial Day weekend, paying the "stay for breakfast" rate of $114 per night which included breakfast for 4 for each paid night stay.

The bill was paid with my Marriott Rewards Premier Visa.

When I got my summary, it stated a total of 1800 base points. I didn't question it because I thought it would be cleared up when the points posted to my account. I justed checked though, and it still only posted 1800 base points. Shouldn't it have posted 2200 base points?

Thanks for any help on this,

Deb

It is a recent stay, and the correct base points should be 2280. You can call Marriott Rewards and ask them to adjust the stay. Any stays within 2 months can be adjusted without faxing in the folio of the stay.

I have seen where some rates that include "extra" items like tickets to shows, theme parks, pre-paid Visa cards, etc are pro rated in terms of points accrual. So maybe the hotel is doing something like that. Though I would have thought that breakfast should have been covered as most hotel restaurant charges should be included.

I might suggest you call the hotel to find out for sure.

well this was quite a learning experience. I called Marriott Rewards yesterday and explained my situation to the rep. I told her I had stayed 2 nights at $114 each, plus I had $8.25 in other hotel charges so I should have had $228 at 10 points and $8.25 at 5 points plus another 20% bonus. My points balance showed I was about 700 points short of what I should have gotten.

She kept trying to tell me that I couldn't include taxes...which I told her I wasn't including. She finally put me on hold for about 10 minutes, came back to the phone and said, "okay, we're going to credit you the $8.25 from your bill." I said, "we're not talking about credit, we're talking about a shortage of points." She then said, "okay, I'm going to give you 200 points." At that point, I thanked her and hung up because I just felt she had no idea what she was doing.

I immediately called back and got another girl on the phone who understood my situation quite clearly. We worked it out right then and she credited me the missing 700+ points (which have already shown up in my account.)

Kind of scary that some of the reps have no idea what is going on. I hated to make such a big deal about 700 points but I'm only a silver elite member and we highly value our points...they provide my family with a pretty nice vacation in a top notch resort about once a year.

Thanks for letting me share,

Deb

Did you get to keep the other 200 points the first rep gave you?

No...it looks like my amount was adjusted to exactly what it should have been...which tells me the second rep really knew what she was doing and gave me what she knows I was supposed to get....or it's possible that the first rep never even added the 200 points. I was really disappointed with her help...she sounded like she was totally indifferent to the whole thing. I even joked with my husband that she was probably polishing her nails or finishing the magazine she was reading while she had me on hold (oops did I say that)
