The rolling 12 month window is undocumented; meaning you will not find any information about it on marriott.com or in literature from Marriott. It does exist as noted by hhoope01 in post #3 and Rewards_Guy (who works for Marriott) in post #7. Also see this thread, Marriott Concierge: Does Marriott use a rolling qualification year?, and make special note of the response from Marriott Concierge (official Marriott lurker) in post # 23.

This is dead wrong. I was told on the phone by Marriott rewards that the window was rolling.

This is supported by the fact that I made Platinum on 2/11/08. If it was strictly calendar year-based, that would be impossible since there was not enough time for me to spend 75 nights in a Marriott in 2008 as of 2/11.

Just to check.

If you became a Platinum member (or Silver or Gold) on say February 20th 2007, assuming you didn't stay enough nights to maintain it, would you actually be on the same level until 2009 ???

I'm a little confused by some of the comments.

Thanks

You are correct. Your elite level will be valid for the rest of the year that you earned it (even if through the rolling-year cycle), and all of the following year. So if someone achieved Plat elite status on Feb. 20, 2007, then they would be a Plat through February, 2009. (Note that Marriott's elite levels don't expire at the end of a year, but at the end of February the next year.)

I was just querying because my elite card shows expiry of Feb 2008.

Wasn't sure whether I would get another one for the same status, valid until Feb 2009....

You should get another card for this year with an expiration of Feb. 2009.

HHOOPE01 - I hit 50 nights on Jan 10th, 2009, and got Gold. The card said thru 02/2010. I called MR, and was told if you hit 50 during Jan or Feb, that it was only good thru that year. If you earned it after early March (when they processed the elites for the year - they were hesitant on the actual date), then you would get status for that year AND the following year. I wish I had know this before - I would of waited an extra 2 months to hit 50, since I had no other stays in Jan or Feb to actually use the status.

If DJBLAMIRE is still around - can you update us if this is actually what happened to you?
