Breakfast for Plats?

Do I have this right? If a FS Marriott does not have a Concierge Lounge (or it's closed) Platinums can eat breakfast in the hotel restaurant gratis --- but ONLY on weekdays (Monday - Friday). However, on the weekends, if the Concierge Lounge is closed, we are on our own. This really stinks!

Yes, if there is a CL, then Gold/Plats get access which means access the breakfast provided there. And if there is no CL, then sometype of breakfast will be provided M-F. But there are a couple of caveats:

1. If a hotel is designated as a "Resort", then all bets are off. IOW, no breakfast has to be provided period.

2. The breakfast provided in most CLs tends to be a limited breakfast. Some hotels will refer to it as a "Healthy Start" breakfast if you were to purchase a similar one in the hotel restaurant.

3. Just because a hotel doesn't have to provide a full breakfast or any breakfast at all on the weekends, doesn't mean none of them do so. There are some out there that will provide breakfast on the weekends either automatically or if they are asked. (And some of them will provide full breakfasts on the weekends. ^)

Thanks for clarifying! Every FS property I recall staying in over the weekend automatically provided something until last weekend at the Del Mar CA - they did not and I did not realise they don't have to. I was pretty obstinate (based on experience with other hotels I assumed this was standard practice) and they relented. Now, I'll ask ahead of time. Again, thanks!

IME, the majority of FS properties (except resorts) will provide a breakfast to plats on weekends. Sometimes they offer without asking, sometimes you have to ask. Sometimes they give you a bit of an argument and then relent. But most of the time they're pretty cheerful about it, and if you're with your spouse, they'll usually make it breakfast for two.

Some properties will give you the option of taking the cold or "healthy start" buffet gratis, or paying the differential to upgrade to a full hot and cold buffet. To me, this is totally fair because the cold buffet is of comparable value to what's offered in most CLs.

And then there are those in the minority that take a hard line and flat-out refuse to offer anything.

The T&Cs of the MR program clearly state that breakfast is only a benefit on weekdays. Thankfully, however, most properties think enough of their guests to continue providing the perk even when they don't have to.
