Ditto....but when I stayed it had just made the conversion from being a Sheraton. Hopefully things have improved since then. I recall the CL as being one of the worst ever. Based on dan1431's remarks, at least that may have been fixed.

Even if you didn't mind the sixteen block walk to Beale Street, I'd consider this to be a bit "dicey" after dark.

If Beale Street doesn't "float your boat", try either the SHS or the FI east of town in the Galleria area off of I-40. Both are newer properties, reasonably priced. Scads of restaurants/bars in the area, (but mostly chain operations).

Does the concierge lounge at the Marriott Downtown stay open on weekends...what are peoples' experience on the lounge offerings?

How far is the arena from the hotel?

I just stayed at the FS Downtown Memphis Marriott. The lounge is not open on weekends, but they did provide me with breakfast coupons as a Plat.

I am not sure how far it is from the basketball arena, but it overlooks the old Pyramid - which really is an odd duck of a building.

I thought that the front-desk staff was exceptionally friendly and professional. I would stay at this hotel again whenever in the area.

We were told that breakfast coupons are not given out here to Golds...is that correct? The front desk said that only certain franchises do that along the East Coast and MEM Downtown is not one of them. Didnt press the issue since Im not Plat and didnt know if this was only a Plat benefit. But, I was extremely disappointed.
