Direct Bill Question
I'm new to this forum.
I have been staying at Hilton and recently my company changed the policy which forced me to stay at Marriott from now on for my business trips.
All my hotel stays are direct bill. For my last 2 stays at Marriott I didn't get credit in my rewards account. When I called Customer Service they told me that All the direct bill stays are not eligible for rewards stay.
Is it true? I never had any problem with Direct bill stays at Hilton.
Is there any work around?
Thanks,

I don't think so. This is a pretty clearly published limitation in the MR T&C.

Hello Jlm41,
Unless your company allows you to make your own reservations, I don't see a way around it.
In theory, you could request a copy of the folio which will show your name on it, and fax it to Marriott Rewards asking for the missing nights and points to be applied to your account. However, since the hotel account is covered
directly by your employer, that may not work.

Hi,
I am in the same situation, my company pays for the room and I pay for the extras so I only get around 1000 points per night instead of around 3000. As I have stayed around 60 nights this year that is alot of points I am missing out on. I have brought it up with the MR but rules are rules!

Antdenatale,
Do you get credit for nights stayed at these hotels when your employer is covering the bill?

I've never received points in any program when my company direct bills my stays (usually about 3-4 times a year when we have congregate staff training or meetings.) Usually the hotel and company, at least in my case, have negotiated rates, ameneties like free or reduced meeting rooms, and contracts which cause the rate to fall out of the terms of what the program covers.
I remember in the early years of programs in general, a couple of chains tried to eliminate giving points on government rates. It didn't last long.
The other issue I suspect happens with direct bills and loyalty programs is the issue of the purpose of the program. Direct bills already serve the purpose of creating business because in most cases the loyalty is already created/mandated by the company. The loyalty program exists to attract and maintain those guests who have a choice of where to stay.

I do get the night credit, but not the points, I have tried everything to get the points but there is no hope.

As has been previously stated, point credit for guest bills being paid via Direct Bill to the company are not awarded points. In very limited circumstances is this circumvented at the property level, but will be for the decision maker. This, however, does not help out the road warrior that is actually staying a number of nights in a Marriott hotel.
I agree that the guest traveling should be helped out in some way. There is an alternatives. Mind you, this is something that you need to check with your company that is taking care of your stay yo ensure that it does not break any company standard or circumvent any existing MRW point agreement that may already be in place.
An option would be to pay for your room (using a MRW Visa of course to get extra point earnings) and expense it with your company. Obviously this puts the financial burden on you for a bit and have to wait for your company to reimburse you. Not the best idea, I know, but it would net you nights and points.
I know this does not really help out a great deal, but it is the best I can offer from the property level.

Thanks MG for the internal insight. I like your idea about charging it personally and getting reimbursed which is what happens with 95% of my stays. But when my company has direct bill arrangements (usually for all field staff meetings) it is required we use the direct bill, mainly to keep track of registered guests with our company. We have to guarantee a certain number of rooms to get the meeting rooms we need in the contract.
