Does the s.c. actually go to the staff?

I agree with all the great reviews posted here. The harborview rooms have similar view as what you see at the lounge. The only thing that limits your view is a tall skyscraper that sits right in the middle, interrupting what would be a perfect view.

Not sure if all of it directly goes to staff. I would hope so. But the staff's pay system there might be different than the states'. Staff might be on a more solid salary system so they rely less on tips.
Either way, paying over USD50/day on tips just seems very unnecessary to me.

This is totally standard in HK. Hotels and restaurants will add on the 10% service charge. In restaurants, you basically "leave the change" or just round up another couple of percent. In hotels you do give bellboys, etc., small tips. Nothing major is required or expected.
As far as I know the service charge does not go directly to the staff. It's just part of the cost.

Was that the Marriott gold card voucher? I think it may need to be used in conjunction with the card?

Yes, but no where on the voucher does it state/require card too......
Haven't used the HKG vouchers myself, but in Thailand the voucher is all that is requested/required and although I have the card I've never been asked for it along with the voucher, but if you know different being from HKG let me know and I'll just delete my offer to give them away........
