Hello,

Does anyone know when the Double Points Promotion will start up again?

Obviously you did not read the thread titled My 1 Year Anniversary = Double Marriott Rewards which was one of the first 7 threads in the Marriott forum when you posted your question.

It looks like the double points promo started a couple months ago, November by the accounts in that thread. It is targeted to members' anniversary months. So when your anniversary month comes around, that is the month you JOINED Marriott Rewards, then that is when your 3 months of double points would start. Hopefully we will hear back from Rewards_Guy with more details that will clear up the discrepancy as to when your 3 months actually begin as there was some discrepancy between the November 1 start and the December 15 start.

This is a big surprise for me as I was not anticipating double points until the end of next year. Also as documented in the thread Previous Double Points Promos, previous double points promotions were:
Oct 15, 2001 - Mar 31, 2002 (also double nights stay credit)
Sep 15, 2003 - Jan 31, 2004
Oct 1, 2005 - Jan 31, 2006
If the pattern prevails it won't come around again until Oct 2007.

In addition to the 1000 bonus points, the M11 code at the Orlando World Center dropped the rate 30%. It also includes a free upgrade to a pool side view and a free breakfast (not a concierge breakfast). Fairly good deal, I think.

One question, on the EEO certificates, can these be used over and over with subsequent reservations or are they strictly one per member? I'm using one in Vegas in early march and may have the opportunity to use another one later in the month.

The T&Cs state "only one certificate per member" which could be interpreted as per stay or per per "quarter" or whatever the term of the cert is.

Since up till recently, they were paper certs sent to us and we only received one of them to use, I would assume that the intent is for you to use once per the time frame of the certificate's validity. But that would just be a guess.

I have used one per stay previously. I've been fortunate during the last promo period of the EEOs to use 2-3 certificates (one certifcate per stay).

However, in December, I tried to use the EEO certifcate at the Crystal Gateway Marriott (Arlington, VA). It was a Thursday night and a Friday night stay. Like before, I would submit it at check-in Thursday so that I would get Friday night free. It has worked previously but this time, they wouldn't accept it because they said that I had to stay either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. My feeling is that since I'm paying for Thursday night and Friday is the weekend night, give me the Friday night free.

However, I did have a BB that I could use, so the cost wasn't too bad.

Let me hear your thoughts. Has anyone else experienced a scenario like this?

Regarding the EEOs: Chris told me via email that everyone is entitled to use one paper certificate and one online printout for all EEOs. It is clear on the T&Cs that the EEOs are good for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. You cannot use the EEOs for a Thursday and Friday stay even though Marriott treats Thursday as a weekend if you stay Friday night (with the exception of some hotels in Middle Eastern countries where the weekend is Thursday, Friday, and Saturday as stated in the T&Cs).

For the M11 rate at Orlando World Center: I was actually at this property last week for two days. I got the room rate but nothing else (as the official dates for the rate are from March 3 to 31). It is a good deal, and BigYellowDog, you should be able to get a nice suite when you check in. They have over 120 suites. I asked for one in the comment box and got the upgrade. This property offers a free healthy start breakfast each day as a welcome platinum gift option in lieu of 500 points. The upgrade to a full breakfast is $2 when you choose the breakfast as the platinum gift.

During the promotion, the full breakfast buffet is covered for 2 people. The regular price for the buffet is $18.95. As mentioned in prior threads about the hotel, the buffet is amazing. Rock shrimp and wild mushroom is available for omelets, the smoked salmon is wild, and they have an array of fruit and meat, including prosciutto.

As a side note, if you pay for internet access, you should go for one of the Worldpass packages. They cost about $1 more than regular internet (it states $2 ($12.95 vs $14.95/day) on the placard but you are charged a lower tax rate for the Worldpass package, 6.5 % versus about 12 % on the internet only package), but you get a free liter of water each day, unlimited time at the driving range (including free club rentals), and free wi-fi internet access on the first floor. Depending on the package, you will also get $10/day of free laundry or free self-parking and $5/day of arcade tokens.

World Center parking is $8 a day, so paying another $6 to get $5 in aracade tokens and internet access per day is great. Is there anyway to get the Disney World shuttle thrown in for free? I was told it's $11, but is this per day or per stay?

My family is staying 10 days. We are using a travel package for 7, which includes free breakfast as well as 3 days under the M11, which include the room upgrade and breakfast (Hopefully the kids can eat cheaply). I was thinking of trying to use an EEO instead of the M11 1000 point bonus rate..Maybe I can do both as our 3 days paid are Th, Fr and St nights.

I'm also told that Disney Tickets can be purchased from the concierge for a small discount. Is this the best way to get them? I'm assuming they can be charged to the room so Marriott Points can be credited as well.

Any other tips I should be aware of? Thanks for you input.
