I would assume they have a field in the database that tells if it was booked by phone, online, or travel agent, etc.. I don't know for sure but it would be a good guess since they are having the promo.

I'm not sure I know either, but the closest I have seen is the very targeted promotion where one can get 1000 bonus points for every stay booked online and paid for with your visa card. One can do this for upto 5 stays for a total of 5000 bonus points. This promotion was first listed in this thread:

Thoughts on the "Double Night" Promotion
 

We have the Double Pts. Visa, Megabonus, Summer, and other promotions that occur annually.

I would like to see a promotion called the Double Night Promotion in which you can earn double (two) nights for each night you stay at a Marriott-related hotel. You can have the opportunity to maxmize your stays and reach or maintain certain levels throughout the year. Either have this promotion stand alone or combine it with the Double Points Visa Promotion.

Has there ever been a "Double Night" Promotion? If not, there should be. You can run it for a 3-month period and/or limit the maxmimum number of nights that can be earned.

Like to hear your thoughts.

I hope MR doesnt go down that road, I made Plat for the 1st time by putting my back into a bed for 75 nights and would hate to think that 38 nights would have been enough. That would mean that most Golds will make Plat and most Silvers will make Gold, a Total diluation of the Program if you ask me.

If room occupancy falls like it did back post 9/11 then perhaps you will see better promos. With high occupancy, why would there be a need for better promos?

marriott needs to learn about the mentality of a points whore. which i am a bondifide member and so are all of YOU! A points whore checks this site religously for various promos and offers. in addition, we are signed up for every credit card offer, frequent flyer program, and hotel programs. as such, when spg or hilton have a promo...so follows our business. just as long as their properties are not in the next time zone or outrageously expensive. right now, spg has a similar mega bonus program and hilton as a free 5/10/15 free nights program. doesn't take a genious to realize that all things being equal where most of our business will be flowing!!!

OK, so I know they had the 2 for 1 weekend night deal for the quarter that ended August 31st, but I haven't seen it re-posted on the "Elite Offers" page. Anyone know if they're going to re-up this promotion for the fall quarter?

If you go to the ebay link mentioned by stratofortress, you see that the coupon is valid from 9/15 to 11/30.

I am inclined to think that the Ebay seller is either offering a bogus certificate or has connections with the Marriott Rewards program since Marriott does not offer EEOs ahead of when they can be used.
