Fall 2017 MegaBonus Terms and Conditions
*A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. [Although the T&Cs don't say it clearly, a stay can be as short as one night.]
• Registration is required.
• Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by November 30, 2017 will earn one (1) free night award at a category 1-5 hotel (value of standard free night award ranges from 7,500 points for Category 1 hotels to 25,000 points for Category 5 hotels) after two paid stays* made between September 12, 2017 and January 15, 2018, at participating Marriott® properties.
• If a member completes two qualifying stays during the promotional period, an additional offer may be unlocked and become available in the members account within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay.
• The member may not receive additional notification except through their online member account and must register for the additional offer within two (2) weeks from the date the additional offer becomes available.
• Maximum one (1) free night award earned with this promotion per member to be redeemed for a future stay at participating Marriott Rewards category 1-5 properties.
• Free night award will expire six (6) months after the date of issuance.
• An earned free night award is good for one (1) single or double occupancy standard room only and includes the cost of the hotel room and applicable room taxes only.
• An earned free night award will be added to the member’s account within 3-5 business days after the second qualifying stay.
• The awarded free night certificate is not transferable and may not be given as a gift.
• Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit and Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for credit.
• Stays at ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments are not eligible for credit toward this promotion.
• Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.
• Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.
• For a list of current Marriott Rewards participating brands, visit https://www.marriott.com/marriott-re...earn/hotels.mi.
• Stays at our exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton®, will count toward achievement.
• Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this promotion.
• All Marriott Rewards program terms and conditions apply.
• See https://www.marriott.com/rewards/terms/earning.mi for more information.

Last time it was a Cat 1-5 certificate I was able to use at the Marquis Bangkok where I was upgraded to an M Suite, so I'll happily take another of those.
Though overall I suspect Hilton will win the promo generosity competition yet again with another double points promo.

I have a 3 day stay in October, reserved/paid for by my company on a large group rate ( conference ). I'm sure it was done through a third party.
I'm pretty sure I won't get my Gold benefits for this stay, but can I add my rewards number so that it counts towards this promo and overall number of stays?
Would I get the reward points for the stay?

I attend a conference at rotating Marriott properties every year - Booked under a reduced conference rate / group booking for staff.
I have always received elite recognition, points, and elite credits for the stays.
Very well might depend on terms agreed to for the overall conference package.

Here is a copy paste of what I was referring to above (Wiki from this page). This was the 2016 MegaBonus from February 1 - May 15. I would not be surprised if it is somewhat similar.
A
Win #1 : Earn a free night after two stays
Win #2 : Unlocked after # 1-(takes several days after cert posts) 2500 points for one additional stay
Win #3 : Every stay counts at 4,000+ hotels worldwide (aka nothing)
B
Win #1 : Earn 10,000 bonus points after 15 paid nights plus 2,000 bonus points each additional night, up to 20,000 bonus points
Win #2 : At the same time, earn a free night after two paid stays (register separately in your online account)
Win #3 : Unlock a new bonus points offer in your online account after you win #1 and #2 - additional 1000 per night, for max of 5000 more points [This offer is unlocked (email notification) after your account contains the 10,000 (not 20,000) bonus points and the free night cert.]
C
Win #1 : Earn 15,000 bonus points after 20 paid nights plus 3,000 bonus points each additional night, up to 30,000 bonus points
Win #2 : At the same time, earn a free night after two paid stays (register separately in your online account)
Win #3 : Unlock a new bonus points offer in your online account after you win #1 and #2 -additional 1000 per night, for max of 5000 more points [This offer is unlocked (email notification) after your account contains the 15,000 (not 30,000) bonus points and the free night cert.]

Since the email uses the term "Stay", I guess the first tier is not night based.

In my experience, most conferences book into eligible rates, but the OP does not appear to be talking about a conference.

What the Marriott T&C say is that if the room is centrally billed, there's no earn; if the member pays (and it's not booked through an ineligible channel, such as an OTA) it earns.

Probably a YMMV situation.

Anyway, probably drifting too far off topic. Looking forward to seeing the details behind this Megabonus com out...

Hilton seems to have far better promos as of late, and I still can't get on board to switching back.

In the meantime, I haven't gotten any promo offer yet. I checked my account just now, and it states "No new promotions."

I am attending conferences at Marriott hotels next week and in mid-September. Both have negotiated rates, which implies the possibility of no points earning, but both also require me to use my own credit card for all charges, which implies that I will earn points. I'll update the forum if/when points post.

Yeah!! Finally the one I like. Easily achievable to get a free night.
I think you unlocked extra bonus points after acheiving those certificates. Hopefully they will be at least a category 5 and not a 4.
Much better than this past one of 2,000 points for the same 2 stays.

The current promo cannot be winning over business being so complex. The promo not starting until the second stay is silly enough, but having a concurrent brand bonus that doesn't start until the second brand is ridiculous. Do the suits at Marriott really expect their average members, not FTers, to bother to figure this out?
