Fall 2017 MegaBonus Terms and Conditions

*A 'stay' is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. [Although the T&Cs don't say it clearly, a stay can be as short as one night.]

• Registration is required.
• Marriott Rewards members who register for this promotion by November 30, 2017 will earn one (1) free night award at a category 1-5 hotel (value of standard free night award ranges from 7,500 points for Category 1 hotels to 25,000 points for Category 5 hotels) after two paid stays* made between September 12, 2017 and January 15, 2018, at participating Marriott® properties.
• If a member completes two qualifying stays during the promotional period, an additional offer may be unlocked and become available in the members account within 2-3 days after the second qualifying stay.
• The member may not receive additional notification except through their online member account and must register for the additional offer within two (2) weeks from the date the additional offer becomes available.
• Maximum one (1) free night award earned with this promotion per member to be redeemed for a future stay at participating Marriott Rewards category 1-5 properties.
• Free night award will expire six (6) months after the date of issuance.
• An earned free night award is good for one (1) single or double occupancy standard room only and includes the cost of the hotel room and applicable room taxes only.
• An earned free night award will be added to the member’s account within 3-5 business days after the second qualifying stay.
• The awarded free night certificate is not transferable and may not be given as a gift.
• Nights spent while redeeming an award are not eligible for credit and Marriott Vacation Club® owner-occupied weeks are not eligible for credit.
• Stays at ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments are not eligible for credit toward this promotion.
• Only one room per hotel is counted toward a member’s nights or stay.
• Members electing to earn miles are not eligible for this promotion.
• For a list of current Marriott Rewards participating brands, visit https://www.marriott.com/marriott-re...earn/hotels.mi.
• Stays at our exclusive luxury hotel partner, The Ritz-Carlton®, will count toward achievement.
• Rooms booked through most third party online retailers and select travel agency bookings are ineligible to earn for this promotion.
• All Marriott Rewards program terms and conditions apply.
• See https://www.marriott.com/rewards/terms/earning.mi for more information.

FT'ers are a hyper-fixated subset of frequent travelers. Many just register, make a point to stay at different brands at times, and take what comes.

Agreed about the first-stay hurdle as being annoying - are there that many promo-registered once-per-quarter guests to soak up potential points outlay by Marriott?

I would wager that Marriott's "suits" expect average members NOT to figure it out. That allows them to advertise bold claims in their marketing ("Up to 4,000 per night!") without having to pay out as many points as if everyone engaged in one-night-stay hotel hopping to maximize their points under the promo.

Just about every promotion I've taken part in, the bonus part doesn't kick in until your second stay. This year's January to March one was about the exception to the rule where my offer was double points for the first 3 stays.

This current promo is the first of that type I've ever seen, but I'm much more used to Starwood.

It would be helpful to know the dates of this promotion.

I hope I get this promo... Got 4 or 5 single night stays coming up end of September/beginning of October so would be perfect.

If this promo involves something like "stay twice, get a FN cert" (guessing from OP's first post of this thread), it'll be possibly the best Q4 promo among all the major hotel chains.

I sure hope this is going to be like last year so that there is a nights based component after the getting the cert. I really miss the promos like the 9/15/2014-1/15/2015 promo that got me 55,000 points based on nights. Those points are a lot more useful to those of us that tend to make longer stays at higher than category 5 hotels.

Really? Even if the FN cert is capped at cat 4???

Keep in mind, Marriott is not known for issuing uncapped FN certs (the way IHG does and Hilton has done). Marriott certs from promos to date have always been capped (typically at either cat 4 or cat 5).

For someone who can make decent use of a lower category cert, that's fine. But for some other people (who don't like staying at lower-category hotels), that makes the cert totally useless, which means to them it's the worst promo, not the best promo.

This. Cat 5 certs are hard to use...Cat 4 is near impossible unless you have some specific reason to visit a small town, non tourist area.

Additionally, certs expire, points don't. I would much rather get points and use them when (and where) I want to.

I talked to someone at Marriott today, and she said we could register for the promotion starting on 9-5, and the actual promotion would begin on 9-12.

Assuming the Megabonus ends up looking like Option A, the extra points with stay #3 would be nice (and I should easily be able to do 3 stays with my upcoming travel). Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I'll be able to attain those extra points considering the delay in posting. Then there's the category capping of said certificate. We'll see in any case.

New Marriott Promotion .. ?

Hi all,

Is anyone aware of what the new Marriott promotion is / will be ?

Have a few stays coming up in the next couple of weeks and would like to be registered asap!!

Does a new promo always follow straight on from the last one ?

Thanks
