Using Instant Redemption - Hotel not aware
I've tried to do an instant redemption at the hotel I'm currently staying at and the front desk inform me that they can't do this and I need to speak to Marriott.
I was under the impression that it was the front desk that need to do this.
Has anyone any experience of this ?
Thanks

Thank you for your reply.
Do you know how I would go about doing this as the front desk don't seem to know themselves ? - Is this something I should be able to do myself online ?
Thanks

Normally, for typical annual CAT 1-5 certificates, you can actually attach the certificates yourself in the reservation. We can see the CAT 1-5 ecertificates attached to the reservation after the reservation was made. However, if it was Marriott Travel package, then you have to call Marriott Reservation/Rewards Department to make sure it is attached. Front desk doesn't have the power to do it themselves. Unfortunately you have to call Marriott to get that taken care of.

It was the instant redemption I was looking to do, where you redeem 100,000 points for a $500 credit to the folio.
Thanks

Thanks for your reply - I will give them a call in the morning when they open.
It seems to be a better value for redeeming points rather than redeeming for gift certificates.
Thanks again for your help.

Must be ordered at the hotel during the stay
At first blush it would appear that the front desk at the property is clueless. See the Marriott link below for details on the rules. Better yet, print out the rules and show them to the fdc or manager. Then, you could ask them to handle the problem.
Also, when asking for assistance, it might be helpful to name the property where you are having the problem. Please update here as to the outcome. Thanks.

Yes the hotel itself is supposed to be able to do this by ordering/transacting the points out of your account and applying the credit.
