Check again Sunday morning - the next week will be there.

No. A week at a time, every Saturday night/Sunday morning US Eastern time.

MR has been this way for at least 10 years.

The reservation system will see what you see online. Sometimes calling the hotel can help if you have status. Hotels sometimes keep lists and give preference to those with status. I had that happen a couple years ago, called the hotel, got on the list and ultimately got the reservation.
Of course this is presuming that they will continue to keep handling the inventory exactly how they have been handling it and that the people that load the inventory are not assigned special tasks to facilitate the changeover this is about to happen. But we don't know that for a fact and having been involved in many system changes, they were all hands on deck to do whatever was needed when told to do something. Let's just take a breather for now and let them get their work done and see what we've got when they are done.

Yes, which includes not blaming everything on imagined problems stemming from the merger. The "issue" the poster asked about is answered by letting the poster know how Marriott has released inventory for years, which has never been day by day. There is no need to blame it on a potential made up tech issue that someone thinks might happen. Let's stick to facts.

There is no evidence there will be a change. Any suggestion of a change is from a vivid imagination. We already know that SPG changed how far in advance inventory is released to be more like Marriott, which was announced in advance, so it seems unlikely Marriott would make an unannounced change on the Marriott side.

You have no evidence anyone has be reassigned and likely do not even know which job title does this, how it is done or who is assigned to what. The idea that they have not made plans to continue existing systems like releasing new inventory during the change is baseless.

Again, you do not know anything that is going on within the Marriott IT right now. A system working the way it always was supposed to work is not evidence of a problem.

Yes, it's always possible that everything they have ever done will change at any given time for any given reason. I'm pretty sure Marriott IT has been involved in app mod/updates pretty much constantly for many years and yet the batch job manages to run every week.

History says new rooms will show up for the following week in about 8 hours.

Yeah, I'd call. We already booked a trip for next summer at 50 weeks out. Just checking the same hotel again, it's available for award booking through Aug. 3, 2019. Just looking at London, there is only one hotel showing now through Aug, 3- the London County Hall.

I had the same issue for an award booking I wanted to make in Spain. I called Marriott and had them open a case, calling the hotel to ask them to open up their award availability. They pretty much ignored it for a week, and last night (Saturday night/Sunday morning), still nothing, but suddenly it showed up tonight. Keep checking and try to get Marriott to contact the hotel for you.

It opened today so I booked it with the free night cert. seem easier to use in Europe than California. They also extended the cert as my reservation would be a few days after x date. Are they going to a points system and eliminating the certs?

From what I understand kinda yes, kinda no. The certs will be for points amounts but cannot be deposited into a member account, combined with other points or certs on a single night nor points not used for a night be carried forward for a different night. Like so much else, though, we won't know until we know.
