When does Marriott open their calendar for future booking?
 

I'd like to book for a stay in 365 days (July 21, 2017), but the booking engine only reaches to July 7th. When does Marriott update their booking engine, or is there a predictable range for booking?

I am wondering if I should go ahead and book the Hilton for this trip. :p

Yup, book the Hilton. But then keep checking back on the Marriott site and book it when it becomes available. That way you've got a room either way.

Iirc, early in the morning on Sunday (Eastern) between 50 weeks plus one day and 51 weeks in advance. I.e, For the 50th Mon-Sat and the 51st Sunday after the current day. So 9-10 days from now for OP.

This will be an interesting merger issue - I often grab difficult rooms (F1 in Indy/Austin, Super Bowl, etc.) 18 months in advance withe SPG, as even most advance planners only think a year ahead.

I thought it was 50 weeks out for paid stays. Award stays may show up a bit later.

50 weeks out. Every Sunday morning just past 3:00 AM EST (midnight PST) they release the next week of availability. So this Sunday morning they'll release availability for the nights of Sunday July 9, 2017 through Saturday July 15, 2017. And yes, as Mr. Vker stated, sometimes award availability is delayed.

When I was in Hawaii, I booked Sydney Marriott at 10:06 PM on January 10, 2010 for a 5 night New Years stay Dec 28, 2010-Jan 2, 2011. We got award nights for two of our party and really low rates for the other two rooms. Sydney Marriott discovered the rate discrepancy a couple weeks later and upped the price from $269 to $599 AUD and changed the cancellation terms. Our reservations were unaffected. I've checked NYE rates again at 50 weeks out since then but they haven't let that happen again.

100% correct in my experience. Big events often lag even more, and I have found that France is often about 4-6 weeks behind for awards.

All 4 locations I tried, including Paris, have paid and award stays available through July 9, 2017. I beleive this Sat night/Sunday am will load 50w+1d through 51 weeks out (7/10-16)

An unstated assumption in my post was that this doesn't mean every single property has awards every single night at that time, and will never change after that one date.

Wow, thanks for catching that. That's what I get for posting before my first cup of coffee. And FWIW, you're close to right and much closer than my post which had the wrong dates that are now corrected. You can't book through the 9th right now, but you can book until (as in departing on) the 9th.

No. Others will have to chime in with the exact release pattern but it is not a day at a time like the airlines.

I am not sure if the central system releases the available dates (with the properties loading up inventory past the cutoff) or if it's just an issue of the property loading up their inventory. Regardless, I think it's a fair guess that processes are being prepped for the change starting the 18th. If you feel the inventory will go quickly, you can call in to see what they can do, or call the specific property to ask them. Otherwise, keep checking every couple of days to see how things progress.

The programs combining has nothing to do with this, Marriott has always released dates by the week, not by the day, and popular redemption periods are often held back for a few weeks. From the other thread:
The reservation system will see what you see online. Sometimes calling the hotel can help if you have status. Hotels sometimes keep lists and give preference to those with status. I had that happen a couple years ago, called the hotel, got on the list and ultimately got the reservation.
