Now we know: lifetime status (at least according to the popup) is lost.

... so, we can safely assume that 2MM LT MR points is a Lifetime requirement. IE: You can't gift away points that take you below 2MM lifetime and keep LT Plat.

Hello everyone,

I am very glad to say that my escalation within Marriott and to the CEO was met with a very impressive and positive response. Marriott has made me whole AND listened to my feedback, deciding to remove the lifetime points deduction clause entirely :-) while still continuing to offer the buyback program. With that, I leave everyone with three points:

1) Kudos to the Marriott team for making things right!
2) I hope my efforts has, can, and will help everyone.
3) Reminder to everyone never to be a naysayer or listen to the naysayers. I assume the creators of this site hoped that it would help empower customers and today that dream is fulfilled.

Cheers,

Congratulations on an impressive achievement. Would be interested in a more detailed description of how you accomplished this.

I'll be interested to see if they actually follow through w/ removing the lifetime deduction policy entirely.

Cheers.

The language has disappeared from the Marriott page linked above.
