I just got mine, the 40,000 points offer. Feeling sorry for myself as I haven't had free certs for ages and I prefer certs as most of my travel is Asia.

I thought Marriott had clamped down on this and didn't even try. Will be making a phone call tomorrow. Thanks for the info!

I'm not sure why people think they've clamped down. Three items a year the wording implies you can't change, a few people get denied and the vast majority are successful. I think Marriott relies on the fact that 99.9% of their members are not plugged in to sites like this and won't even try.

I had it in my mind that from this promotion last year Marriott (or maybe the Marriott Concierge) had specified that changes between promotions weren't possible and very few were successful in switching. I thought I'd read it on the forum but obviously I was mistaken. Anyway, happy to be wrong in this case!

I gave Marriott a fair amount of my business last year and have had the Cat 5 offers the last couple of times. This time I got the 35/50k after 20/25 nights. I do have an 11 night Springhill stay planned where I don't want to bounce around properties, but 9 more nights to get 35k seems anticlimactic when in the past it would take 4 stays to get say two cat 4s worth about the same.

By comparison, IHG is giving me 87k for 8 nights, albeit with a few hoops to jump through. But 87k/8 vs. 35k/9 is not much of a contest.

I still have 4 Cat 5s to use up this year... it might be time to give Marriott a few months off of revenue stays other than my 11 night stay, and see what the summer holds.

Happy Holidays!
No email here as a 4 year plat who just re qualified. Interestingly enough if I click the megabonus link here and I'm already logged into the Marriott website it gives an error message saying the page doesn't exist or I'm not eligible for the promotion. However if I log out then it says 2 1-4 certs and asks me to login to register which if I do kicks me back to the not eligible error.

So I just called and they quickly put me into the 50k bonus again
