Pretty sure I've seen different opinions on this topic but I'll ask it anyway.

My wife has recently started to travel a little on business, she came out of retirement after 12 years of doing nothing (not even raising kids) and went back to work.

I digress....next week she has a business trip and she called Marriott to make a reservation, the Res Rep asked if she had a MR#, she said she did not but her husbands was very loyal to Marrioott.

The rep asked for my name, confirmed address, etc. and said your husband is not just a MR member he is one of our best of the best members and we would be happy to make the reservation on his account and he will get credit for your stays.

Is this legite...I also have reservations next week on the same days in different cities.

I have had hotels do this for me. Caution- you will be blasted by at least one member here for doing this. IMO if you are honest with the hotel and they agree to extend your account and benefits to her, you are doing nothing wrong.

As far as stay credits on the same night- sometimes you do, sometimes you don't, I would just view it as a happy bonus if you do.

Thanks Vicki, definetly was not our idea, the res agent did it for her...not to worried about the stay credit, already have 125+ nights this year...but the additional points are nice.

If your wife will be doing some travel if might be worthwhile to get her an account, grab the Marriott CC for more credit and start building up her account. It sounds as if you don't need to nights to maintain your status and she could get her status for stays where the hotel is not as accommodating. Just a thought.

Valid point. You many not earn the extra elite nights, however, you'll probably earn the points. Either way it's win win.

you and the OP are totally free to do whatever you like as a work-around to the stated rules with or without the cooperation of the property itself...........as I, and others in my profession would say, BE GOVERNED ACCORDINGLY...........

Who said it was with the cooperation of the property.... This reservation was made with Marriott Reservations not the property.... I guess they don't know the rules

To me, this sounds like a rogue agent who is fully aware that they are offering to violate policy for the OP. I would worry that doing this too often (is twice enough?) could result in account cancellation.

Why don't you refer your wife for a MR account so you both get bonus points, ask for a Platinum challenge. That way you both get night credit and points and you can always transfer them to your account when needed.
