Paris Marriott Update
I've been there for a night last weekend doing X-mas shopping. Hotel seemed to be 50% occupied. Only reserved two rooms on thursday and this was no problem, normally they don't have rooms left weeks in advance... As far as cutbacks are concerned I can say that the restaurant is closed in the evenings (and they only have one!), except thursdays. One of our rooms was a Studio/Champs Elysees View room for +-450 , it is sold normally for 950. Service good but not exceptionnal: Although the previous occupiant of our room had left since 8 am, we could only have the room at 2:30 pm! Breakfast not as good as in American
Marriotts: No egg station, no waffles...
Good but not wonderful stay at a good but not world class hotel. Hyatt Regency Madeleine is the better hotel, BUT the location of the Marriott is awesome!

When I was there last spring, they were operating 2 restaurants. The first overlooked the Champs and doubled as bar and cafe. The formal restaurant was toward the rear of the hotel.
Which are they now operating?

The Bar is opened during the entire day but they only feature a small menu with 5 or 6 dishes. The Restaurant towards the rear of the hotel is only open in the morning.

Ouch! For a top-tier hotel, not to have a formal restaurant available for lunch/dinner is quite a come-down.

As far as I remember the restaurant was also open for lunch but is closed for dinner except thursday. But it is exactly what I thought: They want to be a top-tier hotel (in France 4*Luxe) and have no restaurant open for dinner!
What a shame!

No lounge at the Paris Marriott. The Renaissance is supposed to have a nice one.

Whats the complaint about not having a restaurant? You are in paris for goodness sake. Hundreds of amazing restaurants practically in walking distance. And they do offer Platinums free breakfast in the morning.

I've been trying to book award travel there for around six months and haven't seen any flex in availability for May/June timeframe. Not really on topic, but thought I'd throw it out.

That is a pretty tough property to get for a number of reasons. First...it's small ...only 200 rooms or so...second...you are going pretty close to peak season...and last...everyone and their mothers' try to book awards there.
I have been lucky and gotten awards there on 2 occasions. Once it was actually available...and the other time..I had to call a fairly high ranking friend that I have at Marriott. These were both 7 night stays.

Award stay availability is difficult at this hotel unless you book way in advance. I reserved last week in May and first week in June nearly a year in advance. Now it looks like my travel plans have changed and I will have to cancel both award weeks. If I do cancel, I will post so others can access time period.

Paris Renaissance has a nice lounge. I'll be there in less than an hour.

Freakflyer is 100% correct. Who needs to eat in a hotel when you've got the best restaurants in the world right outside your door. I've stayed at this hotel for 5 straight years, using points, but always must book 11 months ahead.
This is the only hotel in Paris on the "big street".

Both Frakflyer and Tufbear are right. I know that some of the best restaurants are just minutes away from the hotel, and I would only eat at their if I was caught in a snow storm and could not leave the hotel or something like this, but I meant that it is a shame for such a lovely property (they want to be one of the top hotels in Paris) not to have a restaurant open in the evenings. Or could you imagine a Mandarin Oriental HK or a Grand Hyatt HK or such a hotel with no open restaurants in the evening?
