I'm Impressed!

This morning, I called Marriott Elite Reservations just to make sure that I had a smoking reserved for my stay in Singapore. My travel agent had listed non-smoking on my itinerary, but had in fact booked smoking.

Once this was resolved, I assumed the call was over. But no... the agent, whose name I wish I'd written down, took another 10 minutes to get more information from me to put into my reservation, as well as both making notes in my reservation and sending a separate email to the hotel manager reminding him of the Platinum upgrades (he said the overseas properties tend to 'forget' to do the upgrades otherwise) and to please arrange to have someone give me "tourist tips" upon arrival.

I haven't really done justice summarizing his efforts... needless to say, it left me with a warm fuzzy feeling about Marriott (something which I kept reminding myself of as the Marriott Santa Clara tonight kept moving me from room to room, all right next to the elevator, which is LOUD!)

Thanks, Marriott!

If you still have your confirmation number they'll be able to obtain the agent's number and thus his/her name from the changes he/she made to your reservations

I just spent almost 2 weeks at the Renaissance Chancery Court in LONDON....... ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. They must have called or came by my room three times that first day to check on me and my family with all kinds of little treats and information on West End Shows. A recent hotel face lift was first rate too. Excellent decor....

And then there was the actual stay...

I checked in last night.

Room: Non-smoking. Yep, after confirming a smoking room, they had me booked in a non-smoking room.

Upgrade: Yeah, right. All sorts of better rooms available if I want to pay the room rate, but no free upgrades as a platinum.

It's still a beautiful hotel, with a very nice "executive floor" room (which I'm paying for), but I'm just as equally UNimpressed with the "platinum treatment" at the Singapore Marriott as I am *impressed* with the service on the elite reservations line.

Oh well... time to go shopping!

maybe you should try the ritz-carlton next time, you can get a pretty good rate at least on the weekend.

i found out my company has a similar deal with them (but isn't weekend only) and the service was really good. your posting is kind of discouraging about the marriott, but fortunately there are alternatives for ya for next time.
