As a Platinum level member, I must say that I have become very disappointed in the Marriott program lately - i.e. what ever happened to the Travel Bonus Folio, the lack of award redemption availability, the "paper award certificates - it is Y2K for heaven sake, outdated web site info. on prmotions, etc.

Marriott - Wake up - Starwood is light years ahead..

I have to agree with you on this. Marriott Rewards used to be my favorite program, but it has really declined in comparison to Starwood and Hilton.

I think I have stayed at only 1 or 2 Marriotts this entire year. Everything else (150+ nights) has been at Starwood, Hilton, or other properties.

Yes, agreed "MARRIOTT IS LOSING TOUCH"

I've treid to note this before. I feel that business is quite good for them and that they do not care they way the use to. They have become a non-responsive company IMHO!

I thought I'd now be a Platinum - but as stays decline you do NOT get there - obviously - instead, I'm on the Gold to Silver track!

And so I just usually stay elewhere!

I am planning on taking my 83 nights per year to Starwood.

Anyone listening at Marriott?

I read these posts here and am disappointed. But my own experience to date does not reflect any decline in Marriott's excellent service, or their helpuflness. It could be their service is stretched some by the increased volume of business... that seems to be the case in reports on this forum. I will miss the travel bonus portfolio, but I don't think that's such a big deal. Times are good, hotels are full and they don't need to do so many promotions to get business. That's the reality whether we're talking about hotels or airlines, and it's an industry-wide reality.

I don't mind less 'gimmicks' and 'promotions' if the service makes up for it.

Normally I find the service at Marriott excellent, way superior to Starwood and slightly better than Hilton (from a business perspective, which is where I think Marriott are at their best).

However, I have to admit that in the last couple of year Marriott has started to treat it's Platinums in a way which verges on contempt. Months go by without any correspendence from them, they have never sent me a Global Directory etc. etc.

I am reaching the point where I think, ok the service is good, but if you really don't care about my business I will go somewhere which does (which effectively mean Hilton or Hyatt - I give Starwood another chance every month, and every month they screw it up).

I stayed at the Marriott in Zurich on Monday night (and will probably stay there again this Monday). They have always given me the same room which at check-in they always tell me is 'a very nice room'. It is not a nice room is a pocky-hole. One the door it says the rate per night is CHF 400. I normally pay a rate of CHF 345. This is hardly what I call an upgrade!

As for a welcome gift etc. forget it!

Marriott really does have to try harder.
