I called Marriott this morning; their server was down so they couldn't tell me anything. I called again this afternoon; their server is still down but she said she'd try to get in. After a while she tells me:

"It looks you got offered the mega bonus. You should aim to stay at least eighteen nights before March 31."

Me: "Ok, what is the bonus if I do?"
Her:"I can't tell that. I think it's 25,000 points."
Me:"I know others have been offered 40,000 points. Is there anyway you can look it up?"
Her:"Then it might be 40,000. No, I can not look it up."
Me:"I know someone else [thinking of flyaway] has called and was told of the bonus points offered. Are you sure?"
Her:"I just asked my supervisor and she doesn't know either."
Me:"Ok. Well Thank you."

So far I know I'm offered something for staying eighteen nights. I am hoping it's the 40k, but for all I know it could be anything

It seems like Marriott is just like anywhere else; I'll call back later and probably get a different answer.

Considering I already got twelve nights booked in the period of the promotion this is gonna be easy and sweeeet..<G>

Patience is a virtue I lack. My wife confirmed that we got the flyer yesterday-- I got offered 40k for eighteen nights. I'm now well on my way to a million points.

After four phone calls I was told that the note on my account said 35k for 15 nights from 12/15-3/31. Makes me wonder why the other Customer Service people told me that it was a random selection and if I did not receive the offer in the mail, I was not included.

I wonder if there are any incremental bonus being offered or you must attain the 15 (or 18)nights. It would seem harsh to have stayed 12 nights and not get any points, while others stay 3 or 5 nights and got 5,000 or 10,000 points. Just wondering.

dg, glad you finally got your megabonus offer...

I received the 40k/18 night offer about 10 days ago - I'm not certain how they sequenced the mailing, but for the information of those who are interested in the statistics, yesterday was my 50th night in a Marriott/Renaissance since June. I spent most of September/October at one of the SFO Renaissances, but in November spent only one week at a Marriott property - perhaps they assumed I was visting the competition ;]

Like most of the people who received the 18 night offer, I don't expect to have any trouble with the remaining 14 nights I'll need to stay during Jan - March, though I'd also like to take advantage of a BA/Hyatt offer I received a while ago, which expires at the end of February.

In my experience, service at different hotels varies wildly - the Renaissance in SFO offered flawless, seemingly effortless service, even when due to a miscommunication between my travel organiser and the hotel I was booked for only one night when I needed two: the hotel was horribly oversold, but they let me stay without a murmur. OTOH, the Marriott Westshore in Tampa, (which does have a well-meaning staff), seems to have a problem providing quiet (i.e. away from the vending machines) non-smoking rooms... I went through six (6) rooms when I checked in last week, finally settling for one that was smoke free and suffered only next-to-the-elevator-noise. The front desk staff will certainly remember me!

Has anyone been able to confirm whether "Marriott Hotels" includes the other properties (CY, FI, RI, ETC.) or not???

I don't think I will stay the required # of nights in Marriott hotes if they are not counting the other properties...

Thanks for the help...

Upupaway, according to the Megabonus flyer, "Marriott hotels" includes nine brands (Marriott, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, SpringHill Suites, Marriott Conference Centers, Fairfield Inn, and Marriott Vacation Club International).

First year in Marriott Rewards, close to Black, haven't seen a thing.

I have no idea how they are targeting this.

A call to Marriott Rewards yielded me the 5,000 point bonus for 6 nights. Plus a lovely little lecture from the agent I spoke to about how I should consider myself lucky to get that.

dgolds: the thing is that they are not obliged to offer bonuses. We should all be happy that we did get some sort of offer....it's, afterall, free!

I would think the bonuses must relate to Marquis status. I am Gold, and got the 20k offer for 10 nights.
