Overlapping Reservations in different locations? Marriott Policy question.
Wife and I are going to be in TPA in a few weeks. Rooms are booked under my MR account. We are scheduled to be there from a Wed-Friday.
Well, I just got asked to be in LAX for a few days in the early half of that week. Checking into a Marriott hotel on Monday, and out on Thursday morning. I'm then heading to meet her in TPA
Thus, our Wednesday night stay will overlap.
Will we have any issues with Marriott regarding this?

I tried double booking as well. No issues with your stay, but you will not get room stay credit.
Marriott Rewards program earnings are based on a member personally staying in and paying for their room for one or more nights at any participating Marriott hotel. For the purposes of the program, it has been determined that a guest can not occupy more than one room at a time on the same night or nights in more than one hotel. As a result, a member is not eligible to receive Elite nights, points or miles for a room reserved and registered in their name at more than one hotel for the same night or nights.

Slight chance they will deny points/credit for both properties for Wednesday night, but most likely it will not get caught by either property. If it does, a call to MR should get it resolved.
Ideally, I'd suggest booking the first night in TPA under her name so there is absolutely no problem with her arrival and ask the FDC to carry over the room on your rez when you arrive Thursday.

Maybe refer your wife to the program, have her nights under her name and get a referral bonus of 2K each for the stay?

I have done this and received credit for both stays for the overlapping nights. My wife uses one of my credit cards to check-in and pay for the stays. I have done it twice this year so far and no problems either time. Each was a single night at another property.

I've done a week stay at one property and made an overnight trip to another (without checking out of the original hotel). I got credit for both for that one night.

I have inadvertently done this several times and wish that someone would have noticed and contacted me about the double booking, instead of letting me miss that I forgot to cancel or reserved for the wrong date, requiring that I pay for a room I didn't need or use. You will have no problem holding both reservations, IME.
