True, but that language now matches my experience over the years. Sometimes I get a regular room, sometimes the Presidential Suite, and usually something in between (but closer to the regular room than the Presidential Suite). It changes based on a myriad of variables.

It's difficult to guess why, a few months ago, Marriott initially decided to add the language as to limiting upgrades to one level up. This was a huge change from the previous "finest available accomodations", at least as to the language used (not sure it changed anything as to the actual upgrades). For whatever reason, the Marriott executive in charge of the elite program explicitly denied that there were, in fact, any changes to the language at all. She posted denials both in Facebook and Marriott Insiders. Now, another language change, this time adding back the possibility of a suite upgrade, something that had been removed from the program about five (?) years ago. Wouldn't it be nice to have somebody like a Marriott version of the Starwood Lurker around, and maybe have a shot at hearing a real explanation of what happened?
