Compensation or room change?
Cuurently stayin at a Ren, odd room with queen size bed despite king in my profile. Tried to get the compensation at FD, but MOD insited that when they offer to change rooms with king bed they don't have to pay. T&C is not totally clear here:
"If Company is unable to fulfill this Room Type Guarantee, Elite Members will be compensated $100 USD at JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, and Marriott Hotels & Resorts"
Is MoD correct?
Thanks.

Yes he is. They WERE able to fulfill the request buy offering you a room with a king bed even if they failed to do it initially.
Also I think it has more to do with 1 bed or 2 beds, not necessarily the size of that 1 or 2 beds (i.e. some hotels dont even have king beds at all, only queens, especially internationally). There's been discussion of "Room type" versus "bed type" in the past, and the T&C you point out refer to the "room type" in it.
If they said they were all sold out of kings and nothing to be done, then you MAY have a claim (i'm not exactly sure how the ren brand fits the bed type guarantee, like I know Ritz doesn't guarantee for example but Marriott FS hotels do).

But I do hate it when hotels play "games" with the rooms. IOW, instead of giving you a room with a King bed as requested in your profile/reservation, they offer you something else hoping you won't make an issue of it. If the hotel is short of a particular bed or room type, I would much rather them just ask me if I really need that King bed or would a Queen work just as well. If I'm by myself, the Queen wouldn't be an issue. But if they decide to play games, then I'm more likely to force the issue with the Marriott elite Guarantee.
