Strange situation.
My travels (and thus hotel stays) have suddenly dropped off a cliff, so I'll not make the "nights" goal for the MegaBonus they have me signed up for. However, I will have a few stays yet during the period, so I called the Platinum Customer Service number and asked the person who answered (after getting through the robot) whether I could change from the "25 nights" to the "stay twice, get one free night" offer so I could salvage something from the promotion and my stays. The CSR refused, said Marriott was losing too much money allowing Platinums to change promotions and they had made a decision that as of December 1st no one could change promotions. "You take what they give you." I'm not sure whether this is one of those "hang up and call back later, hoping to get another CSR" situations (judging from the accent, this may have been a call center, not Marriott). I'll probably try a day or two later to find out. However, I'm wondering if anyone else (who is Platinum or PP) has tried to adjust the goal (s)he was given to one more appropriate for his/her travel pattern, and been refused. I sure hope this is not another of those "enhancements" apparently designed to alienate Marriott's frequent customers . . . . :( |

I am Platinum and was able to trade down from the 20 for 40,000 offer to a free night cert every other stay, with a max of three certs. This change was granted December 21.
Looks as though calling back and asking a different CSR is indicated. |

First CSR (or call center person) must have been having a bad day. |
Yep, easy to do and the agent was more than cooperative.

Chalk me up to one of those who won't meet the Megabonus this time around. I think it's the first one I'll miss since they started. But I'm at 13 nights now and only projected for two more nights before the end. Two one week business trips to a Non-Marriott location and a 2 week vacation pretty much sunk this promotion for me, even though I have 110 nights this year. They always automatically enroll me in the 20/25 night program and I always just barely made it, until this year.
|
UGH - even with the Visa card as incidental process, I only got 1 night registered out of 4. It's really annoying when a large group of business travelers who have to use their corporate card in order to qualify for the promotion. Maybe that's why Marriott got 4 nights this past quarter and Starwood got, oh, 60 nights.
|
so I stayed 3 nights (1 stay) at Residence Inn, 1 night via Priceline (1 stay) in December 2011. Paid by VISA
but I guess I didn't read the MegaBonus too carefully, as it's my first one registered ever, that it's STAY instead of NIGHTS, so I didn't book my 3 nights (at retail rates) as 2 separate reservations, and they don't count Priceline as a stay and Marriott refuses to extend me 1 free night as a courtesy :( Guess no Marriott for me in 2012 (I'm only a leisure traveller), even if it's not much to them but I guess it makes me happier Now I'll consider future stay/nights at Radisson (I'm Silver, thanks to promo I now have 60K points), Hilton (I'm gold), SPG (Gold), or even Fairmont (AMEX Platinum) |
Just made it today since we have to the15th...

Does Marriott use check in or check out date? In other words, what is the last night eligible for this promo?

Anyone who switched offers get their points yet?
I got offered the 35K for 20 nights plus 15K for 25. Called MR and asked them to swtich me to 25K for 15 plus 15K for 20 (I think I have the numbers correct). In any case, made the 15 nights, but have not seen any points post, as yet. If others have gotten their's, I'll call MR. If not, I'll wait a little longer.

Just to update, I did call MR and the agent was able to apply the 25,000 for me.
When you do switch of promos it usually takes them 10-12 days after promos end for the points to post. I think they want to make sure all stays post before they start posting. So if you switched for this promo might want to wait a few more days before calling them unless you need the points ASAP for a booking. |
I just tried to use a certificate for a stay for my brother and was told it is not transferrrable.
They put both his and my names on the reservation. Do you think they will give my brother grief if I do not show up? |
