Arrow Sheraton Sao Paulo WTC Hotel, Brazil [Master Thread]

The WTC hotel, near the Hilton in downtown Sao Paulo, is joining Starwood as a Sheraton and will have its 'opening' on the 29th of this month according to the manager on duty last night. Signs posted here in the hotel are already indicating the transition.

Thank you, thank you ,thank you

The only thing I would question is the description of the location of the hotel as being downtown - about 10km off there.

(11) 3055-8000.

Bandeira SHERATON retorna a São Paulo
10/09/2008 15:30

Depending what you are doing in Sao Paulo the location is either good or not so good. For me it is the latter. Personally I prefer to stay in the Jardins area.

I've tried a few times to check rates for mid October and continue to get error messages. There is very little information set up on the SPG website for this property as well.

If you enter Sao Paulo in the city box on spg.com you may get the following message:

We're unable to find a hotel that matches your criteria.

Please enter different criteria and search again, or visit our Hotel Directory to see a list of all hotels.

If you then leave the city box empty on this page and just choose Brasil from the country dropdown list it should list all the spg hotels in Brasil including Sao Paulo. You can then go ahead and check rates/make reservations

new Sheraton Sao Paulo - why so pricey?

All - visiting Sao Paulo this November, and was initially pleased to see the Sheraton WTC opened. However, when I try to price from spg.com, I'm told there's no availability. If I try pricing from the hotel site, I get $450/night rates. This is well in excess of what I'm used to paying at the Emiliano or Unique, though perhaps my corporate discount is somewhat to blame. Is there any reason that the newness of the property might be causing it to improperly price, or is it simply an expensive hotel?

Its not that expensive normally. This hotel has the biggest convention facility in SP, which may be filled on the dates you are looking into, putting them at high capacity and into unnaturally high rates. Or, they just don't have all the price categories working yet, sinc ethey are so newly a part of SPG.

Might those be prices in Reais, local currency, at about 1.8 to the dollar? That would bring the US equivalent room rates to more typical values.

Sheraton Sao Paulo WTC Hotel - Any experiences?

It looks like this is a recent re-badge to a Sheraton. Has anyone stayed there since the re-badge?

Any comments/feedback on this property? Platinum recognition?

General comments about the local area?

Thanks!

From Sheraton WTC to Jardins will be about 7-8km; by car in 15-20 minutes.

What Expo Center are you asking? If it's Anhembi or Expo Center Norte, both are very far from WTC Complex.

I am actually referring to Transamerica Expo Center, not sure which one that is?
