My memories from 3 months later pretty well match my initial report. I'd do the train ride early - we did it late in our stay and by then had seen many of the sights already.

Marriott St Kitts
 

We are planning a vacation with family and friends in the summer, and we thinking of staying at the Marriott in St. Kitts. There will be three families going, with children ranging in age from 7 through 13. We would appreciate any feedback regarding the hotel, activities at the hotel, and the children's program. We are also thinking about booking the hotels all-inclusive package, and would appreciate any information on the package. Thanks!

I don't remember an all-inclusive package, but we always prefer to rent a car, get out, and explore. Kittitians and Nevisians are some of the nicest people I've met on the planet.

Now that my airline has remained solvent (at least for a while) I will be at the St Kitts property for 1 week beginning next Sat. Last week Boston and Albany next week Boston and St Kitts--I can't wait!! :D I will find out about the all inclusive options and post back here.

Thank you CPRich. Those posts really helped. I think we are convinced it's a really nice resort but are not sure yet if there will be enough for the kids to do.
Do you or anyone else know if they have any structured programs for kids? Other hotels have programs and activities for different age groups. I know the hotel has a kids club but really don't have much more information. We tried Marriott reservations which as a side note are almost useless for international destinations. If it's not in their computer they don't have a clue and turn it right back on the customer to call the hotel.

Any further details would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Foodguy, that would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if you're traveling with kids but if we could impose a litle further we would appreciate anything you notice on kids programs and activites both at the resort and the country in general. Between 3 families we will have 6 kids and if they are happy, we are happy...

I think we are considering the same airline you are and also had concerns of their stabilitiy.

it doesn't look like much more than meals and "non-motorized water sports".

I don't know if it's maintained by Marriott, Marriott's Caribbean Division or the local owners/franchisees.

But what it does give you is a bit more detail on those properties including the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. And its webpage has an 800 number that will get you to a reservation specialist for that property.

Also, on the site's homepage is a link to "contact us" and past experience (w/the Curacao Marriott) indicates that the email addresses listed there do in fact, let you reach the individual property instead of Marriott's centralized reservations desk. (Worked for us when we were researching the Curacao Marriott.)

St Kitts
 

This may not be your cup of tea and there is a small amount of risk involved, but a number of people (including myself have been getting this hotel in priceline for $65. I am going for a week in Oct and have seen multiple reports of people getting the same rate for the summer.

Yeah...I have a couple of little ones. I was contacted by the concierge at the property regarding tee times and massage appointment etc. They also asked if we would want to "enroll" our kids in their childrens program. It looks like they have a number of age appropriate diversions, but we wanted to check them out in person before we committed. I'll report back here either during or after the trip.

Some questions to those who have stayed here: I am booked in a "quality room," which is the lowest category. It states that there is no balcony. Does this mean that they are on the ground floor? Is there a sliding window door there? Is the room then bigger than those with a balcony?

Does anyone have a preference as to which building to stay in?

Any help would be appreciated.

This is the type of room we stayed in. They are on the ground floor. No sliding glass door. Instead you walk into a hallway in the building and access your room from there.
