Can anyone tell more about the resort from the perspective of a platinum member?
-Upgrade chances? -Food choices (any cheap ones since i will be there for a 2 weeks) -Is there an extra charge for the gym -Scuba? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...ight=inclusive |
I did not care for Marriott at Caymans either, I love St Kitts
|
Are there any cheap food option at st kitts off property but nearby (no car)?
|
Spent 10 days there in July 08. As a Platinum member I was not upgraded. You can do lunch at the Pizza Shack next to the pool prices were reasonable. For dinners go out of the hotel and go left, PJ's, Ciao, and Rock Lobster all good Ciao our favorite all close to the hotel. For a little longer walk or taxi go down to Timothys Beach Resort there are several casual restaurants very reasonable Shiggdy Shack etc they are all right in a row. Enjoy

St Kitts Marriott Timeshare Buildings?
We are going over X-mas and staying in one of the 2BR Marriott timeshare units. Any of you ever do this vs staying in the main hotel in St Kitts right next to the TS units? I stayed at the hotel at the Westin Puerto Vallarta and the timeshare people were largely segregated from hotel people, esp. on the beach - although their space was arguably nicer in some ways than hotel. Is it like that in St Kitts, with any areas separated between hotel and time share - other than actual rooms? Also, do you have any recommendations as to room preferences (building, floor, etc) - we have a 2br, 2 balcony gardenview.
Thx |
We stayed there in Aug '07. Started out in the main hotel. The rooms on the top floor are mostly suites as I recall and quite large - but being upgraded to one of them was not an option as we were using points, (my experience is that a points redemption stay generally gets you nothing extra). The standard rooms were nice enough - huge bathrooms. On the second night, the fire alarm right outside our room malfunctioned and went off every 15 minutes. After a bit of a hissy fit, the moved us to a 2BR TS unit, ground floor - ocean view. Man was I glad the fire alarm broke - the TS unit was very nice. Able to keep the kids seperate, plus a living room so that the early risers had a place to go without waking the rest of us. The TS's are near the main hotel, but not connected. There is a cluster on the left and one on the right, (if you look at the property pictures on the web-site, this will make better sense). Each side has a separate pool area, although the pools are open to all property guests. There is only one true row of ocean front units on each side. Then there is a row in the middle that "peaks" to the ocean, then a row that surrounds the pools. i suspect a garden view unit is the middle row - but it is certainly not claustrophobic.
We did a dive package with Pro Divers. loved it, got the whole family hooked. The dive shops take turns doing pool demos with the hopes you will do a discovry dive - it is a blast and a good intro to diving. |
St Kitts - safe big enough for laptop?
Can anybody tell me whether the in-room safe in the Marriott St Kitts timeshare units is big enough to fit a laptop?
Thx |
dunno 'bout that, but for what it's worth, when i've stayed some place with too small of a safe, i'll remove the hard drive(and any other peripherals of value) and stash them in the safe. Keeps personal data safe, in case the laptop is swiped.
|
Yes it is..... I have been there 3 times, I never put my laptop in the safe, but I guess you could.
|
Stayed there for 2 weeks this summer in the main building the safe we had definetly would not hold a lap top. Maybe some rooms have bigger safe's that I dont know. I would call the hotel and ask for the measurements of the safe to be sure.

St. Kitts Resort - Has anyone stayed there? Considering a family vacation
I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on this particular facility? If so, some questions:
1. How's the overall facility? Is it in good shape? Rooms nice? 2. Is the beach/pool area nice? Good sand, clean, clear water? Beach activities? 3. Is the area safe? Any crime issues? 4. Hotel restaurants good? Crazy expensive? 5. Things to do w/in walking distance? 6. Cost of cabs to/from airport? For travel around town? 7. How is the snorkeling/scub diving? Good reefs? 8. Elites get free Concierge Lounge access? We would likely stay for a week using points and free tickets on Delta. Myself, Mrs. Big Red and 2 rambunctious boys (11 & 12). Thanks is advance for your help! |
I haven't stayed there but it is on my short list. Do a search here and you'll find lots of info, most of it leaning towards favorable.
The reason I am posting here is, if you go to the Marriott homepage and click on "Deals" for St. Kitts, you will find that this hotel is offering a LOT of specials right now, not the least of which is an all-inclusive with 3 meals, snacks and alcoholic drinks plus the room for $299 per night. Kids under 12 eat free on this deal. It also includes golf and activities including a spa treatment if you like. This could be an absolutely phenomenal value for your family. Additionally, the St. Kitts Marriott is also offering advance prepay rates well under $200/nt right now. There are many other deals there including a $100/day credit which might be more enticing to you than using your points. Just a suggestion. Hope this helps. Have fun and report back to us. |
