I have noticed they are plenty of restrictions around rewards for 2008. You need to pay extra or have upgrade points. What has changed this used to be an easy hotel to get point saver or regular points?

Is it the space that the time shares took away or is it the new Delta service from ATL?

Interesting that you mention time share. I was offered a time share visit to either Aruba or St. Kitts. I was leaning toward St. Kitts but flights were better for Aruba (could get there at a lesser cost and nonstop).

Wow...glad we took our holiday there this past May without those sorts of restrictions. They were selling timeshares HARD back then. The Vacation Club folks (located next to the front desk) kept trying to make an appointment for me every time I went to the desk or passed through the front door. I guess I should have taken the free MR points, but got sidetracked by SCUBA certification courses instead.

I was there in August, I took the tour for the 10K points .... that is my favorite carribean marriott but I wont use 200K points to stay there.

I am heading down to St Kitts next week on points and am wondering if we will be be offered a timeshare sales pitch.If so,does anyone here have experience with it at this location?
If they offer enough points for the presentation,I may just take them up on it.

They will probably offer you $100 or an equal value of points.

Full disclosure here, we own 2 Marriott time shares (Aruba and Phuket).

If you will be there awhile and don't mind setting aside 2-2 1/2 hours of one of your days, take a look. They are VERY low pressure. We had said no to several Marriott locations before buying. They simply accepted our answer, gave us our gift and we were off.

Pick a time of day that makes sense. When in Aruba, we learned that the afternoon sun was very intense. We picked an afternoon tour so as not to be giving up too much "prime time."

I would avoid any vouchers or coupons unless they can be used in one place that you are interested in. In Aruba, they will offer some vouchers that total $100. To take full advantage, you have to go to about 8 different places and spend money.

I think the points or sometimes they offer a $100 credit towards your hotel stay are the best value.

Take the 10K points, it last about 2 hours ....

Just got back from there...the tour is 90 minutes and the incentive is 15,000 points or $100 vouchers to be used at certain restaurants. We took the points since we did the tour on the last day and couldn't use the $$. Presentation is low key with not a lot of pressure. The new villas are very nice.

While I haven't been on a tour of Marriott's St. Kitts property, I have toured quite a few different Marriott properties over the years (and a number of them I have toured more than once.) Marriott tours are the only timeshare tours my wife will go on. She hates the hard sell most others use. The tours are supposed to last around 90 minutes, but if you really don't want to purchase and only want the points/$, then tell the sales person upfront. They will probably still want to take you on a tour of the facility and rooms, but they can speed it up and have you out of there in an hour or less.

Personally, anytime I am staying near a property that Marriott has a tour for, I take them up on it. I like to get a look at the facilities and the rooms and they are very low key in selling (especially when compared to most other timeshare salespeople.) So it isn't a pain telling them no. Overall, if you want some extra points it isn't a bad way to get a quick 15K points addition. ^

Any recent stays at St Kitts? Upgrade experience?
 

We are looking into a week long stay at the St Kitts Marriott in late June. Any advice on recent stays would be appreciated. Also, what are the chances of a platinum getting an upgrade with a paid stay? The rates for a pre-paid stay are $125/nite for a garden view room with no balcony. Thanks in advance for advice!

My wife and I stayed there in September on point. I am a gold member and was upgraded to a suite. The first 4 nights we had an island view, then we were given the option of changing over to an ocean view for the last 4 nights which we did. We thought it was a great hotel, the staff was great and everything very clean. The only issue we had was about a month after we checked out we got an updated bill with about $30 in phone charges which we did not make. We made about $2 worth of calls which was on our bill at check out. They claimed that their "system" was down at the time the $30 in calls were made. Most of them were to NYC and Puerto Rico (we live in Raleigh, NC) so I suspect the housekeeping staff made some free calls to friends/family while we were out of the room. I would suggest you have the front desk block the phone or you can even unplug it and stick it in the in room safe when you leave. A quick phone call to the hotel GM resolved the charges for me. I hope you enjoy St Kitts, we thought it was a great island.

We stayed there, back in 2006, also on points, paid points for suite upgrade too (may not have been smartest thing to do).

We were in one of the low rise buildings off the main building. We did not have a direct beach/ocean view, though you could see ocean off to the right. I recall they offered an upgrade to ocean view but there was a difference in beds, we had a king and the other had two fulls, we stayed where we were. They were in the process of converting some of the rooms to the MV suites at the time. That should be done now. The place is really big. For the week we were there, around the music festival and World Cricket prelims, the place was pretty full but we did not really notice except a few times in the main lobby.

"Spirt of St.Kitt" sail to Nevis was great, try a Killer Bee when you stop for lunch on Nevis. The Brimstone Fort had great views. While you don't need them at hotel's beach, it's very sandy, you might want to bring some water shoes if you try some of the other beaches.

Marriott St Kitts
 

Hi

My son and his girlfriend wants to go to St Kitts Marriott from 1st to 15th December. The cheapest that I can find for a resort room with balcony is £1030.09 for room only with Expedia. This is a non refundable, pay in advance rate.

I have looked at the price promise of 25% off on the website and think that this would apply but you have to pay Marriott in full for the same deal, no cancellations, and it would be a lot more expensive if they did not accept the claim.


Please can anyone give advice and are XL the cheapest airline that flies there?

Getting to St Kitts is hard work
 

We are going again in Feb. and getting there is not easy. I am not sure about Dec, but US files only a few times a week. DL the same. Since you quoted £ I would assume UK start. You could try flying to St. Maarten and fly Windward Island airways or try Antigua and us LIAT. St. Kitts is hard to get to but worth the trip. SJU has a daily AA flight but it is expensive.

I have been there twice and I am going again in Sept, they are not allot of choices. AA out of Miami and SJU, or Delta out of ATL. They also have a Northeast airline that flies there, I think its US Airways.
