I was there in January - agree - you probably won;t get anything fantastic. I actually booked an ocean view to be sure and didn't get one ! When I arrived, they said they had me in a smoking...I said no, reservation (showing them) has NS "guaranteed". "Sorry, no NS ocean view Kings"

They came back and said, "we were able to upgrade you to suite." Problem was, the suite, ( 2 connecting rooms) was not ocean view.

I said, "Thanks, BUT...I can get suite at almost any Marriott, Ocean view is another story - I'd like what I purchased/booked". Had to wait overnight to get moved to an ocean view double, as no Kings were available.

I think you're best to have low expectations and hope for a surprise

Did you mention the Plat guarantee?

I stayed there with the wife last year. I reserved a garden view room and was "upgraded" to an "ocean/pool view" room in the main building. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast buffet was included in our rate as well and it was very nice, but I don't know if it would have been worth what they would have charged me for it.

My wife and I just stayed there 3 weeks ago, and we were given a 2BR/2ba "Executive Suite" on a rewards stay. The people were amazingly friendly, and I agree, it is a hidden gem. For restaurants, I recommend Sprat Net and Spice Mill- both were great.
Overall, it was a fun time at a very nice resort, and the upgrade was a big plus!

It's been a while since the battle was fought here, but isn't "suites excluded" part of the upgrade language.

We stayed there not long after it opened, also on a lowest tier award, and did get a 1BR Ocean-facing suite. It's a great island, I hope it hasn't been too commercialized in the last 5 years. Be sure to go all the way south to Turtle Beach - hopefully the monkeys and pig are still there to feed. And say hi to Elvis if you run into him...

Per the platinum T&C they are supposed to upgrade me to the best room available, as a Plat. Member. Can I reasonably expect that they'll upgrade me to their 'best room available', which I presume to be the 'Ocean View Suite' ($409/nt), assuming that they have one available?.

I confirmed in the Elite Membership T&C's, Platinum and Gold Membership, item #4:

Room Upgrade: Suites not included;
So no, you should not reasonably expect to be upgraded to an Ocean View Suite. You may be, as I was, but you're not entitled to it through the program rules.

Update from Original Post

We checked in yesterday. They already had us in an Resort View Executive King Suite, on the first floor. It was a double room (master bed and Living area) with a kitchenette and washer/dryer. Would have been fine, except it had an ashtray on the table and had a cigarette aftersmell to it, indicating it had been smoked in recently.

I didn't want to have that smell all week, so I went to get a different room. I simply asked for an alternate room without the cigarette smell (Kitchenette/washer dryer unneeded), and they ended up giving me an OceanFront Suite on the 2nd floor with balcony. Two rooms, same layout as the first but without kitchenette and washer dryer.

We're very satisfied and grateful for the upgrade. As mentioned earlier, we got the 'Sanddollar' promotion (buy 4 nights, get 3 free, with breakfast for 2 each day). breakfast buffet is pretty elaborate - younder children (under 4) are eating drinking for free and our 8 year old is only $5.95. Free internet in room as well (vs. $14.95/day).

Beach is above average and pool is nice too - plan on hitting the casino tonight too.

I'm not a platinum, so I can't address that question. However, I too had a wonderful time when I stayed at the St. Kitts Marriott. It truly is a hidden gem, and the people were incredibly friendly. The resort itself was great.

Glad you got a suite. With 3 kids you sure can use the room. Glad you got the breakfast for a reasonable price.

I'm jealous and wish I was back there right now. Have fun and don't forget happy hour at the pool ;)

I guess your promotion 4 nights paid get 3 nights is over?

Looks like an incredible deal?

Guys, is this type of deal happens time to time with this hotel and others?

Thank you!

Savannah-

I just checked for July 1-8 - they still have the promotion: "SUPER Sand Dollar -5th,6th,7th nt FREE, includes breakfast for 2 guests daily at the hotel restaurant, deposit required, see Rate Rules". Once you submit your search by date, you have to click on the "Room Packages" tab (not the "Standard Rates" Tab).

IndigoEyes Jun 2, 2010 6:47 pm

I also discovered tonight that For every "meal" (if pool club restaurant fare - wraps, gyros, burgers, chicken/fish sandwiches can be called a meal) you purchase, at the pool cabana "restaurant", you get a kids meal with drink for free. Food is ok but nothing great. We'll probably do that a couple of times out of convenience.

Flyerwife - they still have the happy hour: 2/1 drinks from 5-7 (doesn't include the frozens unfortunately). bottled beer included though!

$82/night AAA rate

I was able to score a 4 night stay this coming October at an astonishing $82/night AAA rate for Gardenview room. Standard best available rate was $98/night.

Marriott St Kitts

We are planning a 7 night stay at the St Kitts Marriott using the travel package. Does anyone have any experience with the property, rooms, weather in the end of october.

Additionally, we (my wife and I) are contemplating whether or not to spend 85000 points for an all inclusive experience..

Any comments and experiences??
