I'm not seeing where you can purchase with cash or points just the AI portion of a stay at St. Kitts. I have a 7-day stay coming up in April using points.
What is the cash price & points price of the AI? Thanks! |
Go to the travel packages section in the redeem points section.

What is the cash price & points price of the AI? Thanks! I have seen the cash package though - at more resorts than the points option offers. If you have enough points, I'd call Marriott about it if you're unsure about availability. |

I've only seen the option (not all the time; I think it's only a package sometimes offered?) for all cash or all points. If you're staying on points, you'd have to do the points add-on. I don't know if you can pay cash for it when you're on an award stay.

I was there just over a year ago. Didn't notice anything at all in obvious need of repair. The resort is nice and was not overrun with kids. The main pool is not really situated near guest rooms so I wouldn't foresee that as a problem. I didn't really notice the stars but the Marriott is by far the biggest commercial property on the island and it was not lit up like a Christmas tree. I'm sure your nighttime view would be fine; if not there, at most any other venue on the island. This island is not built up at all, in fact, I've been to about 20 Caribbean islands and St. Kitts may be the least commercialized I've found.

Anyone been recently? All fixed up? What is it like at night in the area? I think of times I have been on a beach and can see millions and million of stars, and other times when you just have kids screaming at the pool. I dont like being over the pools so I don't need to listen to them when I sit on a balcony. Is there a lot of light pollution from the property or do you get to sit on a dark beach and see all the little, dim stars?
I agree, the marriott is a pretty laid back, not a very upscale marriott from the sense of look and feel - it s a very nice marriott though.. When we went last year, we got a suite overlooking the ocean with a partial pool view.. very calm, serene at night and pretty quiet.. Loved shiggidy shack Cheers |
Marriott St. Kitts Beach Club vs. St. Kitts Marriott Resort & The Royal Beach Casino
Has anyone stayed at both properties? What are overall thoughts on the properties and St.Kitts in general? We are thinking about going for our honeymoon and have never been there before. Would you choose the hotel over the vacation club? Thanks in advance for any help.

Both are really in one location together. One (Beach Club) is a Marriott Timeshare or Vacation Club property and the other is a normal Marriott resort hotel.
As for which to stay in, both will have access to the same hotel amenities (pool, beach, restaurants, etc.) The difference will mostly be in the rooms themselves. The Beach club will have 2 or 3 bedroom villas to choose from. The hotel will have normal hotel rooms and suites to choose from. The hotel probably has most of its rooms in the main building which is farther away from the ocean (but not by much), though there are some rooms in the smaller buildings closer to the ocean. The hotel will probably have more "package" rates to choose from (i.e. all inclusive, breakfast, etc.). It will also probably be cheaper (both in points and/or cash.) There is a thread or two on the properties there, you might be able to find some good information from those as well. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...-st-kitts.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...inclusive.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...s-monkeys.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...ean-suite.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/marri...-question.html |

Hotel rooms - ocean view & mountain view standard rooms. One-bedroom suites with ocean & mountain view. We got upgraded to a 1-BR mountain view. Awesome. 2. MVC - Marriott Vacaation Club (as defined above) 3. Here's where it gets confusing: They have privately owned apartments which look exactly like the MCV units. If you are standing on the beach facing the hotel, these units are on the right. SOME of these units can be rented through Marriott, as they apparently own some of these. My understanding is these units do NOT have full kitchens like the MCV units do. We didn't get this information until it was late on the day we were leaving. I asked the front desk clerk about these units because I had heard from some guests during the week that they were available through Marriott and were NOT MVC units. In my opinion, it's not worth paying extra for 'ocean view' in the hotel, as the hotel is a good distance from the water. Some of the MVC units are much, much closer to the water and probably worth the money if you can get one of these. People we met there were staying in a 3BR unit and said it was unreal. These 3BR units have huge decks and all are on the top floor of each building. The resort is awesome. I've already reserved a week for next year. |
Love the resort and the island, It is really a laid back, quiet place with some great restaurants. No need to rent a car, taxis are plentiful and the drivers are personable and knowledgable about the island.

St. Kitts - Use of Points ?
Hello-
Have been reading this forum for years and finally joined! I'm trying to figure out if this is a good use of points, or if I should pay the AI rate. St. Kitts Marriott for eight nights. One night- AAA rate of 112$ (136.64 total. We don't need an AI this night.) Seven nights- booked the AI rate of 329$ - which includes taxes, service fees, a massage and golf round. OR: Three nights- AAA rate of 112$ (409.92$ for all three nights with taxes) Five nights- using 185,000 points (100 for the room and 85 for the AI) This is our third stay and have always paid the AI rate. I just can't figure out if it's better to pay 2,303$ for seven nights AI, or to spend the 185,000 points for five. I don't have enough to do the seven night and 329 a night AI is an awesome rate. And, of course, we have two 12 yr olds who are at the kiddy coloda bar and pizza shack constantly ;) What do you think? Nicole |
If you are plat a good comparison is that you could spend 270K points and get 2000 in gift checks and earn points at the same time.
|
Thank you for your response- I'm just a lowly silver!
|
That's about 1.1 cents per point (if I did my math right), which is decent. You can find better values out there for points spending, but you can certainly do worse. I usually value my points at about $.01 and will generally cash them in if I get a better rate than that.
